Go for a walk.
Suck your thumb. It pushes on an acupressure point that's suppose to increase contractions.
Try nipple stimulation.
Rub clary sage oil on your hands.

Castor oil. it does work, but it really will clean out your system. i used it twice, the first time it made the contractions i already had a lot stronger, went to the hospital, not dialated enought. second time a week later, i used it then went for a walk, about 4 hours later, got some really hard contractions and then my water broke and had my daugher 2 hours later!! look it up on google because some docs say it does have side affects, but nothin' horrible!! good luck!

First of all, congrats!!! It's so exciting!!!
Unfortunately, sometimes losing the mucous plug (so pleasant, huh?) and even being dilated doesn't necessarily mean that you're going to give birth in a few hours. I was 2 cm at my 38 week appointment as well, but stayed that way until I had to be induced at 41 weeks. The day that I was induced, I went into the hospital at 4cm, so I was thinking that it was going to be quick, but about 12 hours later I was STILL 4cm, so I ended up having a c-section.
That being said, everyone is different, so who knows? Maybe you'll go into labor a lot sooner?!?! Try jogging a bit...maybe that will bring him/her down more :o)
GOOD LUCK!!!!!!!

in case you're dialating above a three and your cervix is skinny, you greater clever get to hard artwork and delivery. they say pass asap while contractions are 5-7 min aside for atleast 30 min to a million hour, and in the event that they are very very painful and u can no longer walk you extremely could pass. Are the constantly on a similar soreness point? you do no longer choose to have a house beginning!

If you're having cramps those could be contractions.
Don't be in too much of a hurry and if you can avoid it, don't have them induce. The pitosin SUCKS and you get no rest between contractions, there is pain you can handle, pain that makes you wish you were dead, and pain that makes you think you are dead and were sent to hell for a multitude of sins.
You also can't get out of bed, walk, and have to be monitored the whole time....so don't force it if you don't have to.
Good luck!

To soften and ripen your cervix which will help with dialation and soften the vaginal tissues to prevent tearing talk to your Dr. or nurse about using Evening Primrose Oil. It worked for me and helped speed up delivery as my cervix dialted more with each contraction.

Start walking (or wadling) as much as you can. Around the block, down the street, etc.
