Fleet enemas are easy to use and convenient. They work generally in 5 to 15 minutes and they work very well. They will clean you out pretty good with a minimal discomfort.

Good luck

It is not painful. Depending upon how constipated you are, th penetration is correlatively uncomfortable. If you are completely impacted, then you should take a stool softener, priot to doing the fleet. Once the tip of the fleet bottle - syringe-like, in shape an size - is inserted into the anus, you squeeze S-L-O-W-L-Y, as much of the fluid as you can tolerate, until either the bottle is empty OR you can't prevent your bowels from moving. I've seen a few people have a crampy sensation, just prior to passing an enormous movement, however, each time there were cramps, no stool softener had been administered, first. Fleet enemas work VERY quickly. I've seen them work WHILE being administered, and I've seen them take up to 10 minutes, to work. I've NEVER seen them NOT work. If you have frequent constipation, you may want to incease your fiber intake - eat multi-grain bread products - try metamucil wafers - apple cinnamon are delicious and do the trick. Don't worry. Follow the directions on the package, and especially the suggestions for lying on your side, and drawing up legs, IF APPLICABLE, to you. Be well.

Once for a test I had to give myself one before the procedure (lower colonoscopy). Not much too it. Follow the directions on the bottle. Not bad but just feels weird like diarhea. Yes it works very well, removes most if not all fecal matter when done correctly. I don't remember cramps. 5 minutes or so and thats all. Don't drink it like Jess says above.

I was taking care of the Grandmother before her colonoscopy and she needed to take a Fleet enema. It took about an hour to start working and the look on her face when she drank it was horrible. She let me stick my finger in the cup and try it and it tasted horrible... really salty. Idk about the cramps but it must work pretty good if they give it to you before a colonoscopy.

I had one. They work, they definitely clean you out. Just as mine was kicking in some people from a class came over just for a visit, that was very inconvenient and pretty embarassing.

Do not drink it like described above. She is most likely talking about a product called Go Lytely.
