from comic books? All this talk in simple black and white terms with "You're for us or against us", "dead or alive", "freedom and democracy", "war against terror" which leaves no room for nuance and subtlety, and then is sold to the unthinking American populace?
Isn't this government by slogan, which has been conjured up by Karl Rove, and is then sung by the conservative radio stations' talk shows and the TV chorus of ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox, CNN and MSNBC, chanting "You may die", "They are out to get you", "Terrorists want to strike again", "We must strike hard"etc.
Do you get the feeling that you are caught in some kind of comic book insane asylum and are unable to get out, where you have the Joker, the Riddler and the Penguin running the US government, and most people are too dumb or busy to figure out what is going on? And we are being eavesdropped on by a bunch of incompetent characters straight out of Animal Farm with Cheney as Napoleon.

All of this 'boogie man" stuff is cover for taking the country back to rule by an aristocracy of the very rich and corporate America. We were ruled at one time by these folks and they want it back. They care very little about abortion, gay marriage etc. These are wedge issues to get people to vote for them so they can take our country back to the 19th century which was basically "caveat emptor" for the public. And it all seems to be working. It is not too different than what the National Socialists (Nazis) did to Germany in the 1930's. I would not be too surprised to see some one worse than Bush be put up for election soon. Already we have the VP Cheney running the show from the shadows.

Maybe this would be answered more effectively by looking at the opposition party's policy.

The problem lies in that the opposition party refuses to outline a policy as it is far easier to criticize a written policy than random contradictory talking points though out the day.

"Whats your policy?"
"Certainly not this!"

"Well, what would you do?"
"I wouldn't do this!"

...on and on.

I do believe you when you say you feel as though your caught inside a "comic" book especially when you infer Karl Rove. Life must be a very confusing and bewildering place for you. It's a youth full lot in life. Enjoy it. :)

Yes I do feel that way, I think that whenever I talk to someone about any of this stuff they look at me like I am speaking another language. Most people just dont get it, they are afraid all the time and would sell their mothers to the government for the illusion of security. I am SO GRATEFUL I am not a neo con, I would hate to be so narrow minded & judgemental. Fear sells wars.

Yep, a few more to add to the list "cut and run" "flip/flop" "Tax and spend". The conservative pundits and canidates mangaged to make the last three elections about a "you are or arenot" mentality. If your NRA then your republican. If you go to church then your republican. If you pay taxes your a republican. Unfortunately, there are not enough people that understand that this is just mindless propaganda. I actually saw a bumper sticker a few months ago that said "You cannot be catholic and democrat" Why not?

That's the way they are. No gray areas, because that would involve using diplomacy, instead of punishment for anyone who disagrees with them.
That is why they are so good at sound-biting and other propaganda, because everything they see is in black and white.
