Okay, I think a building story is approximately 12 feet. So you're talking about almost 500 feet with only one mattress to cushion the fall. With the acceleration of your bodyweight plus mattress, mitigated by the air resistance on the increased area of the mattress, I am pretty sure the impact on your body is going to be mighty fierce.

Will you survive? Very, very unlikely. I suppose it depends what hits first. If you hit head first, no way. However you make it alive, you'll be seriously injured - lots of broken bones, probably permanent damage, etc.

Assuming that you are jumping from the top of the building, and being that each story on the average is about 15 feet tall, 15 ft x 40 stories = 600 feet. It's very likely you will not make it alive. There is a slight chance you might make it if the ground were not concrete, but a 40 story building needs a concrete foundation all around it to support its weight. There are people who have survived falls while skydiving, but again, have hit softer ground. There are also people who have died while falling out of bed.

Good question - i think u should wrap yourself in several clothing layers, with your thick mattress, and a helmet. Don't forget to take a pillow though and some books and a glass of milk and your bedside table - and take a photo and post it here.........

Only one way to find out!

Seriously, though, I doubt even a thick mattress would protect you from such a high fall. And even if it could, you wouldn't be able to hold on to it. You'd be street pizza for sure, only with springs and stuffing as a topping.

the building is 40 storey, doesn't mean that you will jump from 40th floor!!

so hmm you'll survive if you jump from the ground or first :)

I have no idea but don't try it. Suppose the rope you tied or got tied round it broke midway down???? oooooor you might land on your head which isn't properly covered by the mattress.

With the speed you would be traveling and the impact you'd make, you'd likely kill yourself and ruin the mattress

Aim for a full dumpster and you'd be hanging onto a thread of life with lots of broken bones. Aim for the sidewalk and you're dead. (I've acually read about this before.)

40 stories is pretty high and I doubt that you would survive enen if you had the mattress wrapped around you. Please don't try it...that's messy.
