This site is for fun but at times there are serious questions and inquiries that should be handled as such or just left alone. But the questions that usually are very clearly "orchestrated for amusement" are often taken too seriously, in my opinion. Does anyone else notice this? Have you had your intent of humor lost in this venue? Have you just been playing and others seem to think this is real life events, seriously!?!? I'd like to know for my own knowledge. Thanks.

SHOULD READ: "Have you had your attempts at humor and creativity taken too seriously, in this venue, missing the point entirely?"

Oh yes. Too true. You have seen a number of my ( I would think totally ridicules and unbelievable) posts. It is depressing sometimes to see that over half the people take them seriously. I put the blame on peoples' unwillingness or inability to think. I attribute that to the culture today of news soundbites and the preoccupation of "celebrity" news. Regardless of ones political beliefs, People Magazine is not a legitimate news source. I fear the idea of thought is near extinction. Oh well, good thing I'm not young anymore. Oops, but still virile.

I just looked at some of the questions you've asked and I can't imagine anybody having a problem with any of them. But this is the internet and you come across all kinds on here. I have a very sarcastic sense of humor and I think part of the problem online is that you can't hear tone of voice and can't see expressions which help alot in determining how to take someone. I've had problems in here before and I just toned it down some. I don't really pay attention to the people who are slamming everybody for everything they say either though.. lol, I know people like that in person too and I figure that's their problem, not mine.

Absolutely. You should see some of the answers I get for questions that are obviously a joke. Any question involving mary jane should not be taken seriously, yet the bible thumpers cut and paste all kinds of scripture at me, others yell and wig out at me.
Some people can't take a joke.
I always like the- "What kind of Professor are you, anyway? I don't believe you're really a Professor!"
Duh- The name is a South Park Character!!!

I think at times humorous answers and questions get crossed wires. I give both very silly answers and very serious, deep answers, but sometimes it is possible to misinterpret a question and the mood of the questioner.
Sorry, humour, erm ... Labour spin doctor goes to heaven and St Peter says, "all these clocks on the wall are lives. The more lies you tell, the faster the hands turn."
"Where's Tony Blair's clock?" asks the spin doctor.
"We use that as a ceiling fan," says St. Peter.

Creative thinking is on the endangered list. The typed word does not translate well and is most often interpreted literally. At times I have felt compelled to post instructions on how to answer one of my questions, and reading a few responses will usually confirm that thought. I have added details on questions imploring answerers to engage their imagination, to no avail. Just thinking about this situation gives me a headache. Where are those no-brainer questions about avatars?!!!
