That is so so true, like I have so many clasmates that are so sarcastic, cynical, rude, impolite... but they dont even notice or care. I don't know, its just I guess people are becoming heartless and superficial, but at least there's still people who are nice in the world and because of that, they have much more value and are very special =)

I dont know... I try to use good manners at all times, but I think that there are so many different cultures in the US now, that there are no hard and fast rules on manners anymore.
Thai people think its rude to have their hair touched.
Giving a thumbs up, in some cultures, is like flipping the bird...
Some people think that elbows on the table is rude... while others think that getting food all over the place and eating with your hands, no napkins, etc, is FINE, as long as you dont interrupt someone while youre eating like a pig...
ITs so VARIED.
In some cultures, if a kid looks in his parents eyes, while they are talking, its rude, while in others, if they DONT look their parent in the eye, its rude.
With the melting pot that the USA has turned into (wonderfully), some rudeness is going to happen. Not everyone is going to agree on what is polite and what is not.
Like, hispanics will call their family and friends "fatty" or "old guy" or whatever, but its considered a pet name, a term of endearment. If someone in the US did that (like a non hispanic) it would be a severely rude thing to say...
So dont take everything to heart so much... you never know what someone REALLY means, or what their culture or upbringing taught them was acceptable. Finally, it might help to ask your friends and acquaintances what is considered rude or polite to them, at least the big things, and keep a notebook on it. That way you can always check your notes, before seeing that person, and maybe avoid shooting them the bird with the big "Thumbs up" sign, lol......
I always say something, up front, to let the person know that what they did or said was offensive. That generally helps alot. Besides, it takes a village to raise a child, doesnt it?!

This is what happens when so-called "child-rearing experts" foster an environment of no discipline and anything having to do with values and manners is chucked out the window.
With lack of discipline and guidance comes the rise of young people who believe they are on equal terms as adults. Of course some adults tend to behave rudely when interacting with others. As the saying goes, "monkey see monkey do."

You know, I have been asking myself the same question lately.
Even in the military, kids show no respect for age or rank. In the past you could beat the snot out of them for being disrespectful, but nowadays you can't touch them, and you have to watch how you talk to them.
I think somewhere along the line someone decided that we should raise a country with no discipline and no respect, and the media believed that too, so everyone followed suit.

What happened in the Levi's Ad I wonder. Regardless being rude usually means you're your own person and nonsupplicative. Being accommodating is usually a sign of supplication. Like being a server or a slave. I know it's not meant to be taken thusfar in the question but being nonsupplicative is a sign of status or power. Which is why it's cool to wear sunglasses, breaking the eyecontact, making it seem like one is more of their own person than needing anyone to talk to or look at them. Tinted windows and other things that promote anonimity usually are things that make you look cooler. As though one was so popular they need to hide themselves in order to be left alone. As if when someone saw them they'd be chased and mauled as though a rockstar in a crowd. It's more of a mental thing. Being nonaccommodating is simply a front for being an Alpha male. Downgrading others to make it seem as though you're more important. When in reality it isn't true.

It's not just young people who are rude. I run into plenty of people (from their 30's up into the senior citizen bracket) that are rude as well. In my experience, I find that middle-aged people can be the most inconsiderate because they feel like everybody owes them something. I just wish that everybody could be decent human beings with manners.

I 100% agree...it seems that now if a young person has manners it is a surprise
It should not be like this
Now they use words like evil, hate etc. in thier everyday vocabulary...
they think they are cool???

Because alot of youth today think that going against the rules is where it is at. Of course, it also get them in alot of problems.
Going against anyone in authority seems to be the in thing and the Bible speaks about the fact that it would occur (2 Tim. 3:2)

Parents stopped parenting. Values like consideration and politeness were dropped. People forgot that other people shared the planet.
