Im guessing you had enough with romantic novels and part of your lifestyle must be patterned somehow to those fantastic sometime tragic stories already if im not mistaken :), hence a liltte practical self or personality enhancement is probably what you need. My intuition tells me that the following references/books would be fun and good for you:
1) Living, loving, and learning - By Leo Buscaglia
2) The RoadLess Travelled - Scott Peck
3) The Power of Positive Thinking - Norman Vincent Peale
4) Conversations with God (An Uncommon Dialogue-Book1,2&3) - Donald Walsch
5) Books by "Og Mandino" - one for example is " The greatest salesman", an inspirational novel. And several others...
All of which became Best Sellers for several months in their times...Hope this helps and have a wonderful day pal :)

Mostly YA novels...
Twilight by Stephenie Meyer is almost a book about your average teen girl. Bella Swan is new in town, adjusting to living with her father, and adjusting to her new school. She is absolutely fascinated by the mystery boy who is her biology lab partner. He's unlike anyone she's ever met...with a good reason. Edward is many things but average isn't one of them. He has a big secret...he's a vampire. But their love story is incredible!!! Really you have to read it to understand how wonderful it is. This book was recommended to me by a friend--a good friend. She described it as a book she couldn't put down. I trusted her. And even though I had never read any books about vampires...never even thought about picking up a book about vampires...I decided to give it a chance. I fell in love with the book. It was truly a book I couldn't put down.
Sarah Dessen is a great YA writer. Her latest book is Just Listen. It is about a girl with some complex issues going on. She is one of three sisters and all were brought up modeling. One of her sisters, however, has a dangerous eating disorder that some members of the family are ignoring. And our heroine has some of her own issues...her best friend's boyfriend tried to rape her at a party. She's kept it a secret but now she's the class outcast because of a bunch of lies and rumors that got spread. It's in a way similar to Speak. Anyway, it is about how an unusual friendship with another 'outcast' (a boy) leads her to speak up and actually communicate with her family and friends. So it's a journey to self discovery...and it's very good. The Truth About Forever is another one by Sarah Dessen. It's great too.
Hit the Road by Caroline B. Cooney is a very funny book to read. It's a 2006 book. Brit is a 16 year old girl who has only had her driver's license eleven days when her grandmother makes an unusual request/demand. While Brit's parents are away, the grandmother wants to make a road trip to her 65th college reunion. She wants Brit to not only drive her there...but to pick up three friends along the way...one of whom will have to be kidnapped out of a alzheimer's facility. The book is absolutely hilarious. Not your typical premise for a book...but definitely worth reading.

The Hiding Place by Corrie Ten Boom.
It's about a Christian woman who gets put into a concentration camp (during the Holocaust) because she hid Jews from the Nazis. Awesome, awesome book! I've read it at least 7 times.
p.s. It's non-fiction.

1984, its about a negative utopian society that has many occurences that we see in life today. It is a bout a society brainwashed into thinking "BIG BROTHER" is the saviour. Meanwhile the "perfect society is one of brutal dictatorship with everyone under the watchful eye of Big Brother. Spin Doctors turn massive shortages into an actual increase in productivity and the society goes along with it. just one example. Also the country BIG BROTHER symbolizes, is constantly at war. Sound familiar? North Korea is a perfect example of this. but i dare say the USA has some relevance to the novel.

If you like fantasy, give King Fortis the Brave a try. It's about a pair of twins that are transported to a magical world where they are caught in the middle of a battle for control of the land. It has humor, action and adventure and is one of my favorite books!
