UNless you have a ginormous snake, it will not see your dog as food. You have the right idea, they need to be kept seperate and the dog needs to not be encouraged to have any interest in the snake. That way if you handle the snake your dog is not trying to investigate and scare the snake.

As long as the dog can't get the cage open, and the snake can't either, they should be fine. Just keep the snake's cage up high where the dog can't get to it. I have four snakes and three dogs, and I've never had a problem.

They're not going to be best friends but as long as you keep the dog away from the snake tank they should be OK. If the dog is constantly looking in on the snake it could stress the snake out and cause problems.

I'm guessing probably not, the dog would probably try to play with the snake. well, depending on how playful the dog was.
Oooh but yeah, if you were having it caged in your room, it'd be fine there. My aunt has a snake and she has 2 cats and a dog. The snake, and the other animals are fine. :]

Caged and preferably not hungry. It depends on the size of the snake. If it's a huge python or boa constrictor, it can kill and swallow your Boston Terrier whole if let loose.

NO have you seen that program "when good pets go bad" there was a thing on there that a snake ate a dog and the owner just stood buy and took photos to sue her neighbour. Whether you keep it locked up or not its not safe, i dont trust snakes, they can get their jaws around anything, please dont get one or if you have one get rid, the dog is not safe while the snake is around!!!!! if you look on this site at point no 5 (snake eats pet chihauah) I rest my case

If the snake is kept in a tank it should be ok, though the dog may sit and watch it for a while. I have a bearded dragon and my cats like to watch that for a bit, they soon get bored of it and leave it alone.
