How far along are you? Lots of things can make your feet swell, namely being on them for long periods of time, especially if you are over 30 weeks or so. If you are early on in the pregnancy, this usually isn't a very good sign. Make sure, however far along you are, to tell your OB. Sometimes this is a sign of preeclampsia or toxemia. Check your blood pressure and if you feel any abbormal cramping or have bleeding, get to the hospital asap. If it's just swelling, here is what ya do:
Don't stand for more than an hour or so at a time.
Take a break! Sit down a prop your feet up for a while. If this is uncomfortable, try laying on your left side. Helps promote circulation. Reguardless, please tell you OB and drink lots of water, no salt or pop. This will help a lot. Good luck!

There could be any number of reasons your feet swell. In some of the worst cases toxemia is the cause. Also, the weather like heat, or just standing too much could cause them to swell. Try Epsom salt and elevation to make it go down. If the sweeling also shows up other places like your face for example see a doctor becuase this could be a serious condition.

Most of my weight gain was water weight. And yes my feet were swollen constantly. Try propping them up when resting, and also try not to stand up for more than an hour or so at a time. That's what worked for me, but each pregnancy is different. Also, the glucose test is important to make sure there's no other underlying cause for the swelling.

It swells because of water retention. Just lay down and put your feet up on a pillow or something elevated, and the swelling should go down.

What can make them swell.....
Summertime heat
Standing for long periods of time
"Long" days of activity
Diet low in potassium
High level of caffeine consumption
High level of sodium intake
What can you do to treat swelling during pregnancy?
Swelling may be reduced by eating foods that are high in potassium, such as bananas, and by avoiding caffeine. Here are some other helpful hints to manage swelling during your pregnancy:
Avoid standing for long periods
Minimize outdoor time when it is hot
Rest with your feet elevated
Wear comfortable shoes, avoiding high heels if possible
Wear supportive tights or stockings
Avoid clothes that are tight around your wrists or ankles
Rest or swim in a pool
Use cold compresses on swollen areas
Drink water, which helps flush the body and reduce water retention
Minimize sodium (salt) intake and avoid adding additional salt to meals

Pregnant women have up to 40% more blood volume and various other excess fluids. Gravity makes the fluids move downward. To ease the swelling, elevate your feet whenever you can. Drink lots of water to reduce water weight and be patient.

eating too much salt in your daily diet can cause you to retain more water and therefore your feet, legs, ankles, fingers, face, and arms will all have some moderate swelling to them because theres so much more influmation around your nerves in your body. i would cut out eating alot of salty foods, and drink more water to flush out the salt in your body. drinking more water helps flush out excess water youve already retained as well. it keeps you hydrated so your body thinks it needs less water to store in the body. also try putting your feet up while you are sitting. keep them elevated and this will help the blood flow to them, which will help the swelling go down. also you can wear panty hose or stockings and this pressure on your feet, ankles and legs will help the circulation in your legs,. this prevents viricose veins as well for pregnant women.

Pooling of fluids make feet swell.
Try support pantyhose. They really helped me when I was pregnant.
It got worse when I ate salty things or when I sat still for too long (every hour the doctor told me to walk around for 5 minutes).
Putting on the support hose first thing in the morning really helped. So did walking around and elevating my feet when I had to sit at my desk.
Hope this helps!
