She's also someone who was able to pull herself up from the ground, use her God-given talent and help others. Just because you might not be in that situation does not mean that the thousands of girls who have children out of wedlock and may not have finished school don't need a role model. Often, when people are in that situation, they really believe they are going to die poor and without love because they've made mistakes. Fantasia showed that it doesn't have to be that way.

And the number of people who obtain G.E.D's are growing every year. Research this. They are seen as equivalent to a high school degree.

Fantasia IS a good role model because she didn't just sit there, she actually did something. You may want to trivialize it because it was just a singing competition, but it was a right step.

Damn is she not human. People makes mistakes all the time. The only thing I don't get is why is she acting in it. It on lifetime channel they do movies like this all the time. Leave Fantasia alone. She never said she was trying to be a role model.

I was wondering why they did that as well... But just because you made a few mistakes doesn't mean you can't turn yourself around and make things right. As for her being a role model, I think people have put that title on anyone who is famous and we shouldn't.

Role models should be the people that are in DIRECT contact with you or a child. Parents, police officers, teachers, doctors, etc...Just because someone is famous doesn't mean they are a person that should be followed...

I agree with black butterfly, she didn't asked to be a role model. She is trying to show that with all the problems in her life she still accomplished her dreams. And that if she can do it anyone can.

everything. but they are trying to prove that even if you drop out of highschool and have a child out of wedlock, you can still be a winner....of american idol....although i don't know how much of an idol she is, i guess she is in a way she overcame so much, but not in a way of what she's done.
