1) 8 eggs. To go from 3 cups of flour to 12, you multiply by 4. So 2 eggs, also multiplied by 4, is 8. This keeps the ration the same. To check, note that the ratio of eggs to flour is 2:3. The expanded ratio of 8:12 is also equal to 2/3.

2) b. on each side of the equation, you can have cookies divided by flour. There is more than one way to solve this, but (b) is one of the ways. To solve, simply cross-multiply, and you get 24X = 2.5 times 36, which is 90. Divide both sides by 24, and you get X = 3.75.
It will take 3 3/4 cups of flour to make 36 cookies.

That wasn't so hard, was it?

1.)
8 Eggs

Set up a Proportion

2 over 3 = "X" over 12... 2 x 12= 24..divided by 3= 8

2.)
b

Always make sure that you keep cookies with cookies and flour with flour.. if "cookies" are the top number in both the fractions, then "flour" is the bottom number (or value) in both fractions. or vice versa.
