Are you aware that AIDS is a man made disease?

I didn't know this until recently.

It is in a documentary through the canadian media

Aids only came out within the last few decades. It could not have been around for "a long time"

And it is a common misconception that it came from monkeys.

Why aren't all the monkeys dying?

I get the feeling from some of the answers that suddenly I have aids or that I have had sex with animals? This is a harmless question, relax people.

yes. there are a number of bio-engineered diseases designed to help reduce the planet's population in order to satisfy the "needs" of the psychopaths who "own it". if you'd like to be further dis-illusioned about just who runs the country--did you ever look up and notice those strange "cloud like" trails that often criss-cross one another at almost right angles in the sky? google: chemtrails. could p***you off. :-)

Wherever you got this from, back up, take a look at the source, and don't go there again...they are spreading lies for some reason, bank on it! HIV WAS a simian virus, but mutated in Africa and was transferred to humans by ...probably...animal bites. It spread slowly though Africa, traces back as far as the 1940's, found in some blood samples. HIV arose when NO ONE ON EARTH had the ability to monkey around with genetics or life forms. From Africa, the virus escaped into the Caribbean, Canada, the US, spread into Asia and Europe through normal virus infection routes. You have been fed a load of malarky, probably in some context of being Anti Gay. Gays did not spread this virus into Africa, or anywhere else it wouldn't have ended up in anyway. That it first arose in the US in Gay men does NOT mean that is how it is spread. IT is most easily spread from straight sex, not Gay sex. HIV infections are everywhere, people have no symptoms, look totally healthy, and have HIV....There is new hope of containing the disease...a once a day pill can be taken by the general population that will prevent its infection. Until it comes on the market, always practice safe sex.
As with any disease, there are those who are going to be immune to infection. Monkeys have lived with this for a long time, and have developed immunity to their version of the virus. In humans, it appears that ancestors of those who survived the Black Plague in Europe, middle ages, have strong defenses against the virus. AND, yes, it has been around a lot longer than originally believed. Don't believe everything you see on TV or anywhere else. Ignorant people are allowed to do "documentaries" also...It is up to us to sort out the real from the ridiculous. And, monkeys that are infected with the mutated form of the SIV (HIV) do die, so the virus, always changing, can turn back on its origins and do damage. Good luck

The myth about it being a man made disease is just as good as saying that Government made the disease to control world population. Hmm, ever thought about that...pretty interesting.

Monkies have an immune system that differs to humans. Think about it this way, certain lands don't get certain diseases because their immune system has built up over time against the disease, therefore nobody gets it there. This kind of thing happened when the English first landed in America. The Indians started to develop all kind of diseases that their immune systems weren't capable of defending. Likewise, monkies have diseases that human immune systems are not capable of defending, namely HIV.

I've heard that before, that the world health organization had requested a virus be created that would be super strong in order to test all other vaccines against, They said it was a mutated bovine virus, and that it was given to gay people in the late 70's as a heppotitus vaccine

That is what we pay our governments for....to create epidemics and drugs to destroy socioeconomic undesirable elements. The source of HIV is monkey's, but the transfer of it to humans and into AIDS is believed to be through vaccinations that took place in the 70s.

yes and there cures for HIV in the east but the west refused to use those tropical medicine or developed them into tablets so it can cure people. the drug company wants more and those fund for aids research are their own not the victims. in northern Nigeria, there some doctors who used tropical herbs to cure aids and this had been conformed by the western doctors and scientists to be affective .

The Oral Polio Vaccine (OPV) theory

Could production of the oral polio vaccine have contributed to the spread of HIV?
Some other rather controversial theories have contended that HIV was transferred iatrogenically (i.e. via medical experiments). One particularly well-publicised idea is that polio vaccines played a role in the transfer.

In his book, The River, the journalist Edward Hooper suggested that HIV could be traced to the testing of an oral polio vaccine called Chat, given to about a million people in the Belgian Congo, Ruanda and Urundi in the late 1950s. To be reproduced, live polio vaccine needs to be cultivated in living tissue, and Hooper's belief is that Chat was grown in kidney cells taken from local chimps infected with SIVcmz. This, he claims, would have resulted in the contamination of the vaccine with chimp SIV, and a large number of people subsequently becoming infected with HIV-1.

However, in February 2000 the Wistar Institute in Philadelphia (one of the original places that developed the Chat vaccine) announced that it had discovered in its stores a phial of polio vaccine that had been used as part of the program. The vaccine was subsequently analysed and in April 2001 it was announced4 that no trace had been found of either HIV or chimpanzee SIV. A second analysis5 confirmed that only macaque monkey kidney cells, which cannot be infected with SIV or HIV, were used to make Chat. While this is just one phial of many, most have taken its existence to mean that the OPV vaccine theory is not possible.

The fact that the OPV theory accounts for just one (group M) of several different groups of HIV also suggests that transferral must have happened in other ways too.

The final element that suggests that the OPV theory is not credible as the sole method of transmission is the argument that HIV existed in humans before the vaccine trials were ever carried out. More about when HIV came into being can be found below.

The Conspiracy Theory

Some say that HIV is a 'conspiracy theory' or that it is 'man-made'. A recent survey carried out in the US for example, identified a significant number of African Americans who believe HIV was manufactured as part of a biological warfare programme, designed to wipe out large numbers of black and homosexual people. Many say this was done under the auspices of the US federal 'Special Cancer Virus Program' (SCVP), possibly with the help of the CIA. Some even believe that the virus was spread (either deliberately or inadvertently) to thousands of people all over the world through the smallpox inoculation programme, or to gay men through Hepatitis B vaccine trials. While none of these theories can be definitively disproved, the evidence they are based on is tenuous at best, and often ignores the clear link between SIV and HIV, or the fact that the virus has been identified in people as far back as 1959. They also fail to take into consideration the lack of genetic-engineering technology available to 'create' the virus at the time that AIDS first appeared.

The 'Hunter' Theory

The most commonly accepted theory is that of the 'hunter'. In this scenario, SIVcpz was transferred to humans as a result of chimps being killed and eaten or their blood getting into cuts or wounds on the hunter. Normally the hunter's body would have fought off SIV, but on a few occasions it adapted itself within its new human host and become HIV-1. The fact that there were several different early strains of HIV, each with a slightly different genetic make-up (the most common of which was HIV-1 group M), would support this theory: every time it passed from a chimpanzee to a man, it would have developed in a slightly different way within his body, and thus produced a slightly different strain.

An article published in The Lancet in 20043, also shows how retroviral transfer from primates to hunters is still occurring even today. In a sample of 1099 individuals in Cameroon , they discovered to ten (1%) were infected with SFV (Simian Foamy Virus), an illness which, like SIV, was previously thought only to infect primates. All these infections were believed to have been acquired through the butchering and consumption of monkey and ape meat. Discoveries such as this have lead to calls for an outright ban on bushmeat hunting to prevent simian viruses being passed to humans.
