Try Liquid Plast a tape -
or Liquid electric tape -
it is a black liquid we use to seal out moisture on boat wires.
Comes in a little 3 inch can with applicator.
OR a tube of silicone

You don't give enough information for an adequate answer but a product called Polyseam Seal is very good. It will form a semi-hard surface with a little flex. It is hard to get a smooth finish on a rounded surface tho. Message me with more info if you want.

Check out your local hardware store for a product called plastidip. It is used to coat tool handles and would work fine for your project
