Halloween is actually a Christian holiday. It's All Hallowed Eve by it's full name, borne from the All Saint's Day & All Soul's Day celebrations!
Some confuse the idea of it being a celebration of the devil with some of the Pagan celebrations that occur at this time. But most Pagans don't celebrate the devil.
I do not believe that either religion sees it as "simply the one day of the year you can become anyone you choose..."
As to why some people take exception to the Holiday? It has been diluted from its original intention. This occurs with the lack of spiritual adherence to one's chosen religion - or a lack of religious choice. And, ignorance...you expressed yours in your retort!

Is a Pagan Holiday were the druids (Celtic Priests) used to Worship the sun and they believe that at the end of the year (their calendar) that there was a gate open in the middle of the night and the dead would come to try to steal peoples bodies, so they used to wear masks to scare them, they also build a big bon fire to keep the ghost warm and sometimes they would do human sacrificies so that the sun would conmemorate them with a good harvest next year. The Catholic Church later adopt this same festivity and call it Hallow eve or Halloween. The American Culture has cultivated many practices from all over the world. Like St. Patricks day, The invasion and killings of Indians that we call "thanksgiving" and a ship full of disease and cockroach were introduced. Thats the origin of Halloween, you should read some evidence from different sources.

Genesis 6: explains that these fallen angels came down to the earth and pretended to be men. Even took wives.
They forsook there positions in heaven to do that.
Jude 6 also tells clearly what they did.
To destroy these perpetrators. God caused a flood. They had to leave their human body and go back into a spirit body to survive.
It was the last day of oct. when the flood waters fell and drowned their wives and children. They loved them. they gave up eternal life to have them. Rev.12:7 shows a real war between the good angels and the bad angels and they were thrown down to the earth and they knew then they would be destroyed in god's own due time. The Jack O' Latern symbolizes the spirits being cast down forced to wander the earth. They can't materialize into human bodies anymore. But poseing as ghosts and goblins harasser people. That holiday has been celebrated since the beginning of time. As all Soul's day or some other name. In every land and culture. It is truly Satan's holiday.
Chemorateing the flood. So if you want to help him celebrate go ahead.

Somehow, the Evanglelicals and Bible-thumpers have taken the Catholic celebration of All Hallow's Eve, and twisted its meaning and origin to label it Satanic Devil Worship. They could not be farther from the truth of the origin of the holiday or its intent. Here in Texas no one can have Halloween anything anymore. It all has to be called Fall or Harvest to keep the Religious nuts happy.

I have been in churches that believe this teaching. They confuse Samhein with Halloween. Samhein is the pagan holiday that falls on the same day.
I personally think of them as two distinctly different celebrations. I do not observe Samhein but do let my kids celebrate Halloween.
To me, it's the only day of the year where you stop by the neighborhood and say hi to your neighbors. I take my kids around the neighborhood and we have a great time.

The history of the holiday is that is is "All Hallows Eve", or the day before "All Saints Day", when all the demons are allowed to roam free.
In modern times, it is still a day when witches (yes there really are people out there who call themselves that) worship the devil.
Because of both the history and the current practices, I choose to not associate myself with this holiday. If my child want to dress up as something else, she can do so anytime.

halloween is not a celebration of the devil or evil spirits. it was created as a celebration of the change of seasons into winter which people associated with death or dying. they believed that on this day it was possible for spirits to make contact with the living. and in fact, pope boniface IV decided to adopt this celebration of the dead as a church sanctioned holiday, costumes and all, in the seventh century.

Halloween is the pagan Sabbat of Samhain, It is a magical interval when the mundane laws of time and space are temporarily suspended, and the Thin Veil between the worlds is lifted. Communicating with ancestors and departed loved ones is easy at this time.
All things pagan are deemedevil and associated with the devil as far as the church is concerned, Simple as.
That's about as good as it gets
Merry Met.

Halloween is a pagan holiday. Because you are worshiping something other than the church it is considered blasphemy. According to many religions you are only suppose to worship holidays that have something to do with God. I agree many people take Halloween the wrong way. It is just for fun.
