Well I am 21 weeks and I did not realize that I haven't had a BM for 10 days. I called my midwife and she said to buy a tea called Sennate Tea, and drink one cup of tea every night, and also try prune juice(can't stand that juice), and to also try eating food with bran in it. Before I could try any of those things I had a BM on the 10th day. I usually go 5 days without a BM but not 10 days. But at the same time I was not in pain. Since I've been pregnant I've been constipated, I stop taking the iron pills about 9 weeks into the pregnancy because I thought that was causing the constipation.

Oh I feel for ya. I was the same way with my first pregnancy. It was caused by iron in my prenatal vitamins. I kept taking them, but my doctor told me to drink water and increase fiber ( which is what a lot of the others are suggesting). With my last pregnancy, they gave me some prenatal vitamins that had a stool softener in them. They worked great. I didn't have near as much constipation. Ask your doctor about them and hang in there! It's worth all you go through.

You need to drink more water and you need to eat more high fiber foods.
More water and more fruit...unless you're gestational diabetic like me...fruit is not your friend...so you can drink tons of water (which you should anyway) and take fiber supplements.
But in the mean time ...ask your doctor about a stool softener or use the old reliables...Prunes, Prune Juice, an OTC suppository...

get a box of dried prunes and eat them for a snack. There not bad, and they will surely help with the constipation. Also, I had this problem at 5 months to, and my doctor told me I could take benefiber. That helped too.

Yes your doctor can help you. Juice and prunes will work, but if your like me you don't eat that stuff. Try some chocolate no bake cookies they will help. If you've never heard of them or need the recipe let me know. Good luck

it's the same for me and i am only ten weeks. i think it's those freakin iron pills. i also got my doc permission to take a small amount of castor oil to kind of even it out. But you should ask your doctor what's best for you. I didn't make it to day three though. Two days was enough. Good luck.

by the way plums and prunes give the opposite effect than one answerer said, they'll make you even more constipated. if it's bothersome, talk to the doctor, he'll give you some safe natural laxavatives

I have read your Questions - you seen to have ongoing issues with medical things, esp. constipation.
Why not contact your doctor's office? That would be the thing to do.
If everything is fine, I'm wondering if you are a hypochondriac.
