a public school in west virginia is presently locked in a court case against the americanCivil Liberties Union and Americans United for separation of church and state, the reason of the battle is a portrait of Jesus Christ hanging on the wall of the school, the county board of education has sided with the school in keeping the portrait but the ACLU say school is sending a message that indorses Christianity, should the portrait stay or go? why not put Budah ,the star of David, and other symbols to bring unity and diversity, why take it down, ? what do you guys think?

I think they should put all the religious leaders on the hall walls, then there will be balanced.

I think the ACLU should care more about the fact the W.Virginians are so damned poor and are still dying in coal mines.

As a liberal, the ACLU sometimes makes me sick.

The picture has some symbolic value in this case. Other than that I don't see how keeping it or removing it would affect anything, since there are so many other things which will influence the students, such as the general attitude among teachers in the school.
But still, generally I believe religious symbols don't belong in a public school.

I am a Christian, but I don't think that picture belongs there. This is for the simple reason that I wouldn't want a picture of Buddha, Mohammad, the Dali Lama, etc. hanging there either, and while I believe that Jesus is the Only true way to God, I also believe in equal "air time" ( or "wall time" as the case may be).

I think that every person is entitled to their religion. If all religions were practised in schools for each culture we wouldn't have any problem. Our children's nativity play at Christmas has been axed from our Junior/infant school because some pen pushing bureaucrat decided it would offend the Muslim community who's children attend that school. None of our Muslim mums and dads were offended at all, in fact wrote letters saying how angry they were that this had happened . These pen pushing twerps cause more problems than they solve and the buggers get paid for it..!!!!

School is where children should go to get an education not to be indoctrinated by any belief regardless what that might be.

I think when they took religion out of schools is when it all really started to go downhill.
