In the United States, the generally accepted definition of chemistry is "the study of chemicals and the reactions they undergo," where the terms "chemicals" and "reactions" are broad in scope. Therefore, in the U.S., a chemist is someone whose job function is to study or manipulate chemicals.
In England, a chemist is what we call in the U.S. a pharmacist. That is a person who dispenses pharmaceutical drugs, and gives instruction into their use.
The content of chemistry course, then, depends on whether you are talking about "American" chemistry of "British" chemistry. If American (and other nationalities that define chemistry as the same), a chemistry course involves learning about the behavior of chemicals and their reactions. If British, then a chemistry course involves the study of pharmaceutical drugs (preparation, action, effects, etc.).

Depend which country you live in and what language you are speaking!
You have chemists, pharmacists, droguists...
In UK, a chemist deals with drugs in a shop, but can also work in a chemistry lab. It is then a "chemist"...

What grade are you in? Have you ever heard of the "Periodic Chart", you know that chart with all the little letters on it that sorta looks like a really bad pyramid in the back of your science book. Well if you are going to take chemistry, you will need to get very familliar with that chart. You take care now.

That is difficult to answer since a chemist in the UK is a druggist in the US. You will have to ask them.
