the building of the christian faith is most definitely not linear. jesus obviously was the starter and it happened in the israel area. after his death, there wasnt really an organized religion. the beliefs tended to vary depending on the region and every group had their different beliefs. around 325, the roman emperor constatine lead the council of nicea, the goal of which to unify all christians into one main church and to have unified beliefs. they created the catholic church and they went after any christian who didnt go along/believe in what the council had decreed was the "true christian beliefs". so people like gnostic christians were considered heretics and were prosecuted. for constantine, this was more political than spiritual.

The synagogue in Jerusalem is where Jeshua first preached.
The Chief priests eventually kicked out Jeshu and His disciples because of the many miracles and the testimonies of the witnesses-John 16:2 - "They shall put you out of the synagogues: yea, the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you will think that he doeth God service.". After that, they began to have house meetings: The Upper Room, John Mark's house, the House of Narcissus, etc. Jerusalem was the headquarters that sent out missionaries Simon Bar Jonah, Paul, Titus, Timothy--all were under the headship of James the Elder until when the church headquarters moved to Antioch Corinth, Titus took over the responsibility of the church. If you read the Book of Acts in its entirety--Simon Bar Jonah, called Peter--he had to report to James the Elder who was over the Jerusalem church. If you want a complete history of the first 100 years of Christianity--reconstructed fro hebrew records, Roman parchments-inscriptions of arches, records of Josephus and encoded Torah texts which give detailed prophecies of all major religious events over the past 2000 years, check this manual and comprehensive reference guide: www.trafford.com/04-2126

Some good answers from the others. There were christians before Christ was born. Remember them being fed to the lions in the Roman arena's of the Colliseum. The Christian faith did not get a kick start to where it is now until St Peter was in Rome. He is acknowledged as the first leader of the Catholic Church and the First Pope. Of course Christ was the leader in Jerusalem before he was crucified but he said to Peter, you are my rock, upon you I will build my church...................

It officially began in the galles, and it was started by Peter, the first pope. Jesus was not the founder or the leader, he was the inspiration for it. But technically it started in Isreal, but the movement was truly started in the galles. The area around France and germany

New theories suggest that the first form of the christian faith began in Egypt with the sun god "Aton." This was under the rule of Pharaoh Anekaton( i think it's spelled wrong) who was King TuT's father.

God planned it, Jesus started it and the Disciples continued to deliver the message. All happened in Heaven first and then in Israel.
