Good is the desire to advance yourself, but not at the cost of another or society. It often includes the desire to help advance society, even if it may cost you personally.

Evil is the desire to advance yourself and your friends AT THE EXPENSE of others.

A good person will try to improve the general lot of world even if they are just helping themselves. The primary difference is what a person is willing to pay to do this. A good person will try to help himself and others without a cost to humanity.

Evil people will either let the general lot of humanity stay the same or decrease it so they can improve their own lot and that of their associates.

Here is another one for you: What is a sin?
A sin is any action or inaction that causes harm to yourself, others, or God. This definition can be extended to cover animals.

Role-Playing games have a use after all.

Sometimes we don't like things we know are "good". And sometimes we enjoy sinful delights we know are "bad". Of course there is no simple answer to your question, since people's views of morality are at least as varied as the world's religions.

The Wikipedia article on "Good and bad" shows that there are many philosophers who have delved into the subject. In some frames of thought, what is "good" are actions or things that help society achieve the most productivity. In others, "good" is prescribed in religious texts, such as the Bible or the Quran.

The point is that many different people have conceptions of what is good, and what is not. Your answer may be fine for you, but I doubt that it is totally true. Are there things in your life that you know are "good" but yet you refuse? How did you learn that they were "good"? (Example: a kid may know that eating veggies is "good" but yet doesn't like to eat them at all.) Your sense of morality is shaped by your environment.

Good and Bad are Quantitative. What is good for you may be bad for me. Some people use the bible as a definitive explanation of good and bad. Some people use the judicial system to define what is good or bad. The problem is that whatever way you define it or declare it, someone is always going to challenge it.

You left out ugly you inconsiderate do-gooder.

Good is all that is peaceful, like a field of flowers with puppies and kittens playing ...

then they get sleepy. One by one they fall asleep in the field of poppies. Slowly but surely they begin to decompose along with the flowers and become one with the soil.

The richly nutritioned soil is the perfect place for native Americans to plant maize, or as you might call it "corn". Now you can grow to be strong by eating your delicious puppy filled vegetables.

I think the morals devised by a culture are based upon species survival - an action that benefits the species as a whole and helps us to survive is good, if it harms humanity and drives us towards extinction, then it is bad.

All the fundamentalist are going to blast me for this, but good and bad are mostly subjective. With the exceptions of stealing, murder, and that sort of thing, most of life is as you said, up to you!

Even the terrorists who are killing their own people in Iraq think they are doing “good”.

Good would be the right moral thing to do...sometimes not necessarily what feels good. Bad would be the opposite something that you would do that may hurt someone or yourself or that's outside the law.

I think the difference between good and bad is responsibility. If you are not responsible in actions, it could be good or bad. Being responsible could also be good and bad.

You should know being the progeny of your first ancestors, who ate the prohibited fruit of the wisdom tree, despite being warned by God not to do so. But they were tricked by the serpent and lost their original innocence of not knowing good from bad. Actually God did not want the human being to be so wise, but the human being wanted to be extra-wise and listened to the serpent and not to God Himself. The human being wanted wisdom despite the warnings of God Who wanted human beings to remain as innocent as His other creations. Please ignore this answer if you are not Christian.
