To this: With all the sadness and trauma going on in the world at the moment, it is worth reflecting on the death of a very important person, which almost went unnoticed last week.
Larry LaPrise, the man that wrote "The Hokey Pokey" died peacefully at the age of 93. The most traumatic part for his family was getting him into the coffin. They put his left leg in. And then the trouble started.

It's a metaphor. When people laugh a lot their heads tilt back, sometimes a lot as if their heads are almost falling off their necks, so maybe that's where the expression came from.

It's absolutely impossible. Now, there may be a case where someone becomes absurdly fed up with the obsessive laughing and decides to chop the head off; however, the "laugher" cannot laugh his/her head off.

You can laugh your head off by laughing and at the same time chopping your head off!!!!!

This is a metaphor, so nobody's will actually detach their head from the body when laughing.
The term laugh your head off refers to when you laugh so much so you bend your head down, as if you were going to drop it.

1. Milk spews out of your nose.
2. You pee a little
3. You bark repeatedly, "haw haw haw"
4. Tears run down your face

You'd understand if you had ever seen my mother cackle. Her laugh and smile was infectious, with a daft, yet wicked sense of humour.

When they find something so funny that they cant stop laughing which then causes them to breath hard and cut oxygen to their brain which then makes their throat dry.
