Hydrogen Peroxide will lighten your hair. It is used in rinses. If you want the whole head lighter, pour the peroxide throughout the hair to dampen it and proceed with your regular washing process after 2 minutes. Rinse the peroxide out with plain warm water first before shampooing.
If you only want highlights, apply the peroxide to the areas you desire by dampening the sections with the peroxide. Do it quickly because the longer it stays on, the lighter the hair will be.
My suggestion is to do a strand test first and see if you like the results - perhaps a small section in the front where you'll be able to see the effects and determine if this is what you want. (True effects will be seen when the hair is dry.)

Lemon juice in your hair and sitting in the sun only adds streaks if you're already blonde.
With brown or black hair you need hydrogen proxide powder, which you mix to a paste with 20% vol hydrogen peroxide. You apply that (wear gloves) and leave it for 20 - 60 mins. But it can end up just turning your hair orange, so you do need to be careful. Plus if you do it twice your hair can break off.
Its safer to use extensions, but of you're determined to have a go, try Superdrug. I forget what the brand is but they used to sell it. (If I remember I'll post back)You get the hydrogen peroxide from the chemist.
Read the instructions carefully.
I think its 'jerome russell' hair bleach? Its very strong.

The lemon stuff only works on light brown hair. If you have black hair you need to use a stronger dye.

Lemon won't work try to use non coloured non organic shampoo that will take all the colour out gradually within a week. It really works. but you know guys seem to love the contrast of the darker colour next to light skin. So I left mine in but still used the non organic non colour hair shampoo and it went lighter any way

Oh don't do it! Stop! I tried that when I was 12 or so, and it completely ruined my hair. It became all frizzy and damaged. I learned from experience that if you want to get your hair colored or lightened in any way, leave it to the professionals. Sure, it will cost A LOT more money, but it will be worth every penny.

I don't think the "lemon thing" works on dark hair. It will lighten hair that is already blond, or on the very light side of brown. Just wash it out.

The lemon thing and other stuff you put on your hair that ain't dye works if you dry it with a hair dryer or go out in the sun. If it still doesn't help, contact your hair stylist for suggestions.

They are many things in the market to bleach your hair.
If you hair colour is black, you would need to bleach it first, then you can use a bronze lighther.
It will look better, because you say you have black skin....
A bronze light near the face ...you will look spectacular with them!...
To much white or yellow will not look good..
Lemons can burn your hair and it bleach but with an orange colour that looks horrible.
Use a brand product ...
good luck!

Lemon won't do much difference on black hair. In fact, might simply frazzle in the sun and frizz it if its coarse.
I suggest you go to salon, where they will apply prelightener, THEN lighten your hair.
So you're black, are you trying for an Eve? Or are you going for relaxed and high lighted?
