Zebra danios are hardy good looking fish that a lot of people use to cycle a tank.
A small pleco (bushynose variety) will only get to about 5" and does not need vegetation. It does however like boiled zuchinni, french cut green beans and algae wafers.
Thin slice a zuchinni and boil it for 3-5 minutes. Put the slices on a cookie sheet and freeze them. Put the frozen slices in a zip-lock baggie and store it in the freezer to have pleco snacks anytime you need to feed. I have about 30 plecos of different species and feed all but one of them zuchinni. The other is carnivorous and likes snails and worms.
You should be changing 25-30% of the water every week to keep ammonia, nitrates and nitrites from getting to the toxic level. Vaccuum your gravel once a month and your tank will stay sparkling clean and your fish will be healthy and happy.

There are many different varieties of tetras - we have 5 different kinds in our tank. So with tetras alone you can have great variety. I would go ahead with the tiger barbs. They are really not that aggressive - I have four in my tank and they don't bother the tetras at all, or any of the other fish. I also have a clown loach, a male beta fish, 2 small rainbows (which can be aggressive) and some zebra danios. White cloud mountain fish are also a good mix with tetras, as are platys and mollies.

Firstly get your water tested you can buy a test kit or take a sample into your pet store and they will test it for you. I would suggest give your tank time to mature and then go for some beautiful Blue Ram dwarf South American ciclids. Why start with fish that are not interesting be patient with your tank give it time. I have kept tropical fish for many years and I would humbley suggest that you go for quality over quantity. There are many excellent web sites where you can check out fish see what type of water the like and what other fish they are compatible with. Remember a Plec go grow to 18 inches and you would need a tank large enough to accommodate it

I certainly wouldn't buy Angel Fish if you have small fish.
When I had Tropical Fish,I bought 2 Angel Fish and the next morning I was minus 2 neon's because they were eaten by the Angels and I could see the poor Neon's inside them undigested.
What ever you buy make sure you ask at the Pet shop if they can be put in Aquarium with Angel Fish
Good Luck.

Try Betta fish. They are very beautiful but you can't have more than one male. They are very agressive. They come from flordia and are very tropical fish. They can stand almost any temperature but prefer it warm because they are fom flordia. They eat anything from live food to dry peletts. They are know for fighting though that is why you can only hae one male or they will kill each other. I have a male and female and want them to breed but i have herd it is a very complicated task. You can buy betta at Walmart, Petco, Petsmart or and other store where they sell fish. They aren't hard to find. Well hope you find what you are looking for!Good Luck!

you could take chlorine out of the water with treatment or go away it over nighttime in a bucket and it truly is going to evaporate off itself. you go away the tank for 6 weeks for the clear out to mature with the intention to shrink the ammonia and nitrite to perfect stages. If this sounds new to you, purchase a e book and skim it or you'll finally end up with a tank of lifeless fish.

since tetras are small I would advice buying zebra danios, white clouds or another kind of tetra like black neon, neon, or cardinal tetra.
