a public school in west virginia is presently locked in a court case against the americanCivil Liberties Union and Americans United for separation of church and state, the reason of the battle is a portrait of Jesus Christ hanging on the wall of the school, the county board of education has sided with the school in keeping the portrait but the ACLU say school is sending a message that indorses Christianity, should the portrait stay or go? why not put Budah ,the star of David, and other symbols to bring unity and diversity, why take it down, ? what do you guys think?

I am a christian... But I think they should remove the picture of Jesus Christ... I mean it is a public school so anyone is allowed to go that means that people who aren't christian might go to this school so I think it should be removed.

The ACLU is bored and needs somethign to fight about. I guess there are not enough people on death row or soemthing. The ACLU will not give equal shares to all the religions because they think all of them are crap and only believeing there is no God will be sufficent when it comes to government.

They need to get a life and quit talking for the rest of America. Let kids have a choice. Put it up to a vote among the student body as to whether or not it should be taken down and listen to them for a change. We don't go to school there and have to look at it everyday. Let the people who it actually affects make the decision.

This is something new?? It happens everyday. You know, the whole separation of church and state thing? Not only that, but you know how sensitive religious people are. If the other religions are represented along side Christ, someone is going to get offended. Better to take them all down. They aren't saying people can't have religious symbols in their homes, but there's no sense in having them in a public school.

I think the picture of Jesus like the picture of Edward Carneigie and many other good hearted people sends a message of hope and respect to all who view them. That there are a few people who don't like hope and respect being taught to children are everyones enemies. Jesus certainly doesn't incite others to burn books or kill others, so whats the hoopla? I think some people need to understand that most americans are proud to have had ancestors who cared about others and even if its not politically correct to do so these days, care and respect are things we still need to be reminded of, by whatever means possible. If a picture does it, how wonderful.

The picture of Jesus Christ itself is not the problem... the problem lies within the intent of those who placed it. The Courts will decide that. I know a public school that continues to display his picture...however, the picture is displayed among other pictures as well portraying great TEACHERS in history!

i think there should be a mural in the school that encoporates all major religions (and not so major) so that the portrait stays with out discriminating anyone. the mural would promote unity through diversity. my high school does something like that every year.

the photo has some symbolic fee for that reason. except that i do not see how protecting it or eliminating it would want to impression something, considering there are such a large number of different issues which will impression the scholars, alongside with the final concepts-set between instructors interior the faculty. yet nevertheless, in many circumstances i trust non secular symbols do not belong in a public college.
