StL will win the division but not by a landslide the past two seasons...
5 1/2 will probably be it, over the reds,
who will compete for the wildcard and will be one of the top two,
the cards pitching hasnt been as strong with the injury to mulder ponson who just wasnt reliable,
reyes did alright, weavers coming back, Suppans having a good second half, marquis has wins 13 wins but 10 L , Carpenter is still strong though carrying this rotation
there bullpen has been good
Izzy..... well time to find a closer next year,
Wainwright is getting ready for starting next year he will be succesful. hancock is good, and the rest have been good too,
hitting has been slumping, they cant pull to many clutch hits in anymore.
theyve won 2 games when down by three....
Preston Wilson is a good addition but where do you put him Duncan has been on fire.. and Edmonds is almost of his post concossion syndrome
they will still win the division as all and all its a good team

The Astros fell apart and the Cards have no other compitition. Good thing as the Cards should be a much better team than how they've played. They've got possibly the best hitter in baseball right now at 1b. Rolen is having a great year at 3b. Most of the rest of the posistions are at least solid. The starting rotation was one of the best in the game going into the year and that has been the problem. They've faltered badly. So the Cards will coast into the playoffs but they need thier pitching to come to life to get past first round.
At the start of the year I felt the Cards had the best team. I still favor them for the WS in the NL but I keep expecting them to surge and have not seen it.

I think they will hold on but because it's a weak division. I'm a fan but I'm afraid they will be embarrassed in the playoffs. The team chemistry, I think, is the worst it's been in years. Some of the new guys don't seem to fit. Especially Belliard. I don't know why they got him when Luna had comparable numbers anyway. I don't think Bennett is a very good back up catcher and I don't know why but I can't stand Miles either. Their line up is the weakest it's been in years and their pitching staff, starters and bullpen, is the shakiest I've seen in quite some time. These elements just don't add up to much of a run in the playoffs in my opinion. That being said though, I sure hope I'm wrong.

yes. they are a strong team with not much to compete with in the nl central. Carpenter is returning to 2005 cy young form, Pujols is having another record breaking season for a player in his first 6 years. Scott Rolen might be come back player of the year with his top five average, homeruns, and RBI's. And lets not forget he is the best defensve third baseman in baseball history. When the pitching is strong, the cardinals are tough to beat. And Tony LaRussa is arguably the best manager ever, and has led the team to the playoffs in 5 of the past six seasons, and emassed 205 wins in the past two seasons, more than any other team in baseball.

I want them to but i really don't think so. their starting pitching just keeps going downhill. Its tough to win games when they are consistently giving up 5 or more runs a game. Even though they have the hitting to match it, it hurts team moral when you are giving up so many runs. I mean they just got swept by the Pirates and yes that could happen to any team but it just doesn't look good especially since the Reds seemed to make some pretty key trades and seem to be picking up momentum.

Yes, because they are lucky that their division sucks and that the Reds are going to fall off, but they will not go anywhere in the playoffs, they will get swept by the Mets or Dodgers or whoever they play.
