i need help with the name of a book!?

when i was a kid, i read a book about these kids who went to stay with family for the summer, then found some kind of cave type thing in the yard. It seemed to insinuate some kind of cult activity, i just don't remember. Please help! thanks

might have been 'over sea, under stone' . three kids are taking a vacation and they get involved in a big plot between good and evil. They have to find something that is hidden in a cave before the evil does.
