Star Wars. Just look at all of the merchandise and the staying power for 30 years. It also has the greatest impact on our pop culture.

"The Day the Earth Stood Still" (made in 1951) is my favourite movie. I can't really judge if it is "the best movie ever made" because there are a lot of movies that I have not seen.
The reason that I chose this movie as my favourite is:
- it has a very relevant theme whenever I have watched it ( and I have seen it in five decades);
- It treats everyone with respect.;
- although it does not have any fancy special effects as we would know them today, the scene inside the spaceship shows what incredible effects can be induced with only shadow and light;
- I have never found a person that I would not be willing to recommend this film to, and this includes left, right, old, young. That in itself is quite a feat;
It seems that it has found many resonances with many people since it also shows up as a reference in many films and at least one band name (Klaatu). Some examples are (I can't remember the names of these, sorry) a film about a sport store clerk who goes back to fight an army of zombies and a recent film with Robin Williams where Williams plays a psycho photo-finishing clerk.
I'm surprised that no one has ever done a remake of this film.

Hands down it's Star Wars. The original 3, and more specifically The Empire Strikes Back.
Reasons why:
1) It's a classic portrayal of the hero mythology....
2) Even in today's movie world, the special effects were fantastic!
3) Who wouldn't want to be on the Millennium Falcon with a soon to be frozen Han Solo?

Lord of the rings. Cause one week after I saw the movie I was thinking I am living in The Middle Earth.

Fight Club. This is because it is so twisted and interesting and you never know what is going to happen. I have never seen a movie like it and i could watch it over and over again.

A GREAT PORN MOVIE!!!!..ha jk..naw umm the best movie ever made..that is hard to say cuz different generations..I would say Godfather1,2..Gladiator..or ET..very hard to say what is the best!!

Jurassic Park because it has dinosaurs in it + John Williams score + Spielbergo directed it.

For me it's WICKER PARK- movie which reproduced all my feelings and my soul condition...
And also.. TITANIC- just because this movie get 11 oscars!!!
