Most likely because you (or a Google software like the Google Toolbar) had set the default search engine to Google before installing IE7b3. Changing the default is a mere matter of mouse clicks though: Click on the arrow next to the magnifying glass icon and select 'Change Search Defaults', then pick the search engine you want to use as default.

To all the Firefox zealots: Suggesting to switch browsers is not an answer to this particular question. Try out IE7 before slagging it at least.

You've heard that old saying a camel is a horse designed by commity? Well anything Microsoft does is about the same, bloated with many things people never use! Why is Google the search engine? Who knows?
