Starters:
PG: Magic Johnson
SG: Julius Erving
SF: Michael Jordan
PF: Karl Malone
C: Wilt Chamberlain

Bench:
PG: Jerry West
SG: Kobe Bryant
SF: Larry Bird
PF: Bill Russell
C: Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
1: Charles Barkley
2: Elgin Baylor

Two things are probly very noticable about my team:
1. There is no Shaq....Although I love Shaq and admit he's one of the most dominant players in the game...he really does not fit as well with my team and I just have more respect I guess for the centers I chose.
2. Kobe Bryant is on this list which I know I'll get the most slack from, but I've discussed this with people before and Kobe is one of the hardest workers in the game and is determined to win. He works very hard in the off season and he is a very talented player so I chose him over people like Gervin and Robertson. Also I believed that he could work better without the ball than Gervin or Robertson since I believe either Magic or West would be handling the ball most of the time.

PG- John Stockton
Although he is only 6'1", Stockton dominated games with great passing and solid defense. The part of his game most underrated was his offense. He had an amazing field goal percentage for a point guard, but he still averaged over 15 points a game for most of his career. Stockton leads in total all-time steals and assists in the NBA.
SG- Michael Jordan
No brainer. He is the ultimate NBA basketball player. Many consider him the greatest all time. Amazing athletic, good shooter, good defender, clutch, Jordan has all the tools to build a basketball team around.
SF- Larry Bird
Bird, like Jordan, was a winner with the Boston Celtics. He was a great shooter and a great passer. But what isn't talked about Bird is his great rebounding skill at the small forward position. Bird has the all around game that is needed at this position. He also has plenty of height at 6'9".
PF- Oscar Robinson
Can you imagine Bird, Robinson and Stockton on the same team? Robinson is another player who is a great passer. He could play the point forward for this team. He also is a versitle player who can rebound and score with the best of them.
C- Bill Russell
Russell is a great team player and an awesome defensive force. He could clean the boards and erase shots. On Boston he was the biggest reason the Celtics were winner with his dirty work down low. He also has the most championships of any NBA player.

Mine would be:

PG- Magic Johnson
SG- Michael Jordan
SF- Larry Bird
PF- Bill Russell
C- Wilt Chamberlain

This team would score 160 ppg easy. Also, they are some of the best defenders of all time at their positions. I know that Russell isn't a PF, but I couldn't leave him out of a line-up with what he did in his career.

It's far too easy to go with the obvious fan favorites. Take a look at my line-up.

At Center, Akeem Olajuwon, offensively awesome, defensively, even better. The guy once got a quadruple double. How about 200 steals and 200 blocks in the same year. How about League and Finals MVP in the same year. How about leading his squad to back to back titles.....

At Power Forward, Wilt Chamberlain.....so athletic, much like "Dream" but his size and intimidation on offense and defense is really great

At Small Forward, Larry (Legend) Bird....clearly less athletic than others, but, exceptionally better shooter, passer, and, thinker on the court.

At Shooting guard, Michael "air" Jordan.....do we really need to discuss this, THE shoes, the swagger, the dunk, the jumper, the fakes, the defense....c'mon man

And starting at point guard, Earvin "magic" johnson...The only guy on my starting 5 who could, can, and, did play all five positions, IN THE SAME GAME. By the way, he played them all well. So well that he was named MVP. Passing stands out, but examine his all-around game closely. Scoring, board, and, defense....he did it all. A true leader of a team.

My five subs are Bill Russell,Tim Duncan, Elgin Baylor,Oscar Robertson, and, Jerry West . With the exception of Duncan, all of the subs possessed less than intimidating stature, and yet were dominant players. Russell challenged seemingly every shot ever put up, and, never backed down on either end of the floor. Elgin Baylor, only 6'5, killed 'em on the boards, hung in the air long before Jordan was even born, and, scored in every way imaginable, at will. The same can be said for the most complete player in the history of the game, Oscar Robertson. Robertson once averaged a triple double for an entire season. His career avgs are 7.5 rebs, 9.5 assts, 25.7 pts. By the way the pressure is on, down by 2 with 5 seconds and Bird has fouled out, toss the ball inside to Duncan who head fakes, spins and kicks out to who else, Mr. Clutch, Mr. NBA Logo, Jerry West......they don't call him Mr. Clutch for nothing. This squad would be hard to beat especially since the coach, Bill Russell, also plays.
