It depends on several things: Drive size, cause of failure (simple crash or drive fell out second story window, type of drive, etc.
You can expect to pay from $10 to $20 per meg. OR
you can search the web for recovery software. There's some pretty good stuff available for under $100.00. Look at a few a read reviews of each. Though the easiest way to recover your harddrive is to simply run a restore from your backup.

If you hard drive was in a fire or run over with a car or some other insane damage to the drive, then you send it to get recovered. For a very steep price.
I don't think you torched your PC so the easy and cheap way is to download recovery software from the net. Samsung,Seagate,Matrox,etc. offer FREE programs to help restore data on their respective drives.

If you mean a damaged HD, there's an outfit in Atlanta that charges $300 an hour but only if they recover something.
That SOMETHING might not be much, dig?

go to a friends house switch the master to slave switch to slave put it in your friends bottom slot and plug in your scui and power cables in boot his computer run the new hardware wizard then you will have your hard drive in your friends my computer burn all your data to cds and thats it, a free recovery plus after you recover your data you could format the hard drive and get it back into your computer and reinstall windows then your computer will work again if you dont have a windows cd then you could get linux its free but you have to download it and burn it to cd.

There are programs to do it for free (Restoration). If you need to send it away, it really depends on the company...but it can cost thousands of dollars.
