just people's opinion. i love green day, that's all that matters- but i especially hate it when i'll have green day on the radio with my brother in the car, and we're around other people he turns the radio down- i'm like come on now you gotta represent you know lol.
he's stupid like that- but i like green day and i dont think they're a sell out.
...~peace out~...

People label bands as sell-outs because they're lazy. They can't give you an intelligent reason for their issue with the band's popularity so they just call them a sell-out. Green Day for example, did not sell out. They just happened to write an album that clicked with a bunch of teeny-bopper Hot Topic shopping emo kids and it pissed off all of the fans that have liked Green Day for years. It's not Green Day's fault that the trends in music have turned out a bunch of crappy pop-punk bands. Green Day has been making good pop-punk music for years. It's no surprise that all these emo kids latched onto them, when you consider what else they have to listen to.

I agree, wholeheartedly. Green Day got signed to a major label a long time ago, for their album, Dookie. I think this is a pretty good record, and I'm a music snob. They stayed on a major label for a while, and did some less memorable stuff. Then they got canned from their major label, got signed to a smaller, independent label, and put out their coolest record to date. They got 10 minute punk songs on the radio! 10 minute punk songs! Who else has done that? (Tool, kinda) How could you call them sell outs? They stuck it to the man! How do you think the major label feels now? Like idiots! Green Day made BANK for themselves and whoever was lucky enough to put out "American Idiot".
I don't think Green Day is an amazing band, not extremely talented or extremely original, and not one of my favorites. But they could have meandered off into obscurity, and instead put out a record that is unusually unique for how successful it was.
NOT SELL OUTS.

I think because people are "hater's". That term "sell out" is such crap. By most people's definition, they think cause a band is hugely successful, they "sold out". If that where the truth then the Beatles are sell outs, Led Zepplin, the Rolling Stones, Green Day, and Metallica are "sell outs". Technically, anyone who signs a contract whether its for a record deal or anything that has to do for money, is a "sell out". I think its a bunch of crap. I don't know, Its like what Jason Newsted said when he was in Metallica:" Yeah, we "sold out", we sell out every seat at our concerts".

properly, i imagine it is because the song and looks replaced. even as ever they do something diverse someone is constructive to call out "promote out!". even as they signed on Reprise and began getting more effective, that's what human beings reported. And now that they replaced back, each individual is doin' it back. i imagine they do no longer purchase that Billie, Mike, and Tre' needed to regulate so that they did not get in a rut, and so on. and they imagine it grow to be for recognition. also with that actuality they seem diverse... yet what am i able to assert, I personal their first album and twenty first Century Breakdown and that i imagine they seem no longer something yet warm of their guy-liner ;)
