I am the exact same way. I can sing in front of my friends but once i get on that stage i feel like i am 5 inches tall. Just psych you self up for the show. I have to do it or i shake the entire time. Most of the time you only see the people in the first few rows really well. I have very dedicated friends and they know how scared i get so they come out to every show and make sure they are in the front so i can act like i am singing to them!!!! You'll be fine and good luck!!!

I used to be scared to get up in front of people. I would get nervous and start sweating when I was in front of people. I just got done taking a public speaking class and I am more comfortable in front of people, but afterwards I sometimes regret what I did. One speech I had to give, I put it together in about six hours and got a b-, even though I felt like I bombed the speech. I changed it three times from stem cell research, to blindness, to RP, which is a type of blindness my dad has, to finally The Day The Music Died-February 3, 1959 which is the day Ritchie Valens, JP Richardson, and Buddy Holly were all killed in a plane crash in Clear Lake Iowa. People are gonna judge you no matter what, whether it's your looks or talent, and your probably beautiful and are very good at what you do. Go out on stage and just be yourself. No one is gonna remember who you were unless you made a significant impact on them. Go out there and give it your all and don't worry about others. Donny Osmond (I think it was Donny Osmond, but I can't remember who it was) had a bad case of stage fright and did the first song back stage in concert once.

You say it's what you love to do most, right? Then nothing should even come in between it. I, myself, am an artist. There is a comfort that the artist needs to have on stage. Believe me, if you've ever seen a show, as a member of the crowd, you feel the easyness. You need to be at ease, at peace. Lose yourself in the bright spotlights, and the cheers of the crowd.
When you walk on stage, look dead into the lights *make sure you don't fall off the stage LoL!* then focus on a spot in the back of the room. An imaginary dot on far-end wall. Hit that first note, or take that first dance-step. As you go, you will feel free.
I've tatooed Angel Wings on my back with a Microphone in the middle. For one simple reason: Music has brought me freedom; Freedom of Speech, Freedom of Choice, Freedom of Love. I can Say what I want to, Choose what I want to do, Love what I am doing.
Get your wings and soar away my dear!

I think that you have to channel that vibe, when you start to feel that shyness instead of trying to avoid it use if channel that vibe towards your voice your arms and your body, do not concentrate on the people, but on what you are doing and as you realize that you are doing great keep up with it as that stage fright would become energy on your song or speech. Belief me in what I am saying shyness a small lack of self confidence and acceptance, but once you realize that you know what you are doing and how people respond you will enjoy it.

Do it. The more you do it, the more comfortable you will be. I play violin weekly at church, and when I first started six years ago, believe me, I was VERY shaky. But after a few months, I got used to it, and began playing every single week because it felt natural. Now, I get shakier sitting in a pew than being up front!

Pretend like all the people in the audience are wearing black socks and nothing else. The idea of that should get rid of any stage fright! It worked for me when I used to get scared playing piano in front of people.

just picture yourself in your room when you were practicing or when you were at rehearsals... and when you get on stage to audition/do your part look confident, and then if you mess up people wont know that you messes up, and they will just think that it was part of the play. and if you recover from messing up, just keep smiling and being your charactor...but the main thing i was trying to say was that you should just be confident and to be conifdent work hard at practicing for your role!

My father once said to me, "You get nervous when you try to do better than your level really is."
I just have fun with audiences and always remember his words before I perform.

A career change maybe the best bet. If you are nervous you may care too much try not caring what people think and just do your thing.
