You did not say how old you think the baby squirrel. If it is still young, feed it puppy supplement you can buy at a pet store. Also your need to use a warm wet cloth or paper towel to rub it tummy after you fed it to help it eliminate bm and urine, like its mom would have done. When it is older it will eat fruit and nuts. Mine loved fruit loops also. I kept them in a jar and would shake the jar and Scamper would come a runnin. Be careful when it is a little older because it will climb up live a tree. Mine did this many time. Good luck with your squirrel. I had mine for a long time.

I know they're "cute", but this is not the kind of wild animal you should keep. Call animal control, they have experience caring and re-introducing abandoned babies to the wild. If you already touched it chances are "MOM" is going to reject caring for it. I would venture to say it fell out of the nest in the tree close by and mother squirrel will be frantic looking for it. Squirrels carry "Rabies", a bad disease if you get bit or scratched handling it. Means a series of shots as well as long term health problems for you.

infant squirrels can be raised by feeding canned goat milk cut fifty percent with clean watter. i have sucsessfully raised many squirrels that way, also put a electric heating pad in the bottom of a cardboard box with lots of towels in it enable the baby to crawl around and find their own prefered tempature. when their eyes open start giving them additional attention as the imprint fast. do not try to keep an unaltered adult male squirrel as they become vicious and will atact strangers. take it to the vet and save yourself a lot of grief. adult squirrels will eat anything that doesn,t eat them first. good luck!!

Nuts, and...

Squirrels cannot digest cellulose.

Squirrels are actually omnivores; as well as eating a wide variety of plant food, including nuts, seeds, fruits, fungi (for example, mushrooms), and green vegetation, they also eat insects, eggs, and even small birds, smaller mammals, and frogs. It is also a common occurrence that these foods replace nuts in some of the tropics.

In many areas it's illegal to take in wild animals. Plus, this baby may not be abandoned. If it's still outside and not in immediate danger, leave it alone and call the dnr. They'll let you know what to do. Otherwise, call a wildlife rehabber. Trust me, messing with wild animals is a bad idea if you don't know what you're doing.

mothersmilk ; don't you know not to touch wild animal babies? Mother now won't take it back because it smells Human!! You need "Blue milk" not store bought kind. Store bought milk may give it a upset tummy or colic! Baby formula will make it constipated. ask a Vet how much to feed it at one feeding and how often to feed.too!
