I have Nero updated to the latest updates and always burn my DVDs at 2.4X speed, which usually produces the best results. Suddenly, whatever I burn is unreadable by all of my DVD players, even the Sony Playstation2, which would usually read any disc I threw at it.

My Video_TS folders are all in order and all of the necessary VOB, IFO and BUP files that I am trying to burn have been successfully transferred to my computer, as can watch them with VLC Media Player. I've never had a problem like this with Nero and it just started out of the blue.

I'm not a novice at this, but I just can't firgure out why the files, after burning to disc, are unreadable. Thanks in advance.

Edited to add:

Has anyone ever had problems with specific brands of DVDRs? I was using Memorex for the longest time with no problem. A coulple months ago, I picked up a spindle of Sonys and had a few hiccups and audio loss during playback.

I switched back to a new pack of Memorex discs and that is when my current problems started.

Have you ever had a bad batch of discs?

Are you using the video DVD choice from the new compilation menu? Did you just switch from DVD+R's to DVD-R's? Some stand-alone players cannot play -R's. Try a higher speed. Some blanks do not allow 2.4X, but I would think that Nero would not allow it in that case.

I think that the big question is: How does your computer read the disks? Can you play them on your computer from the DVD using PowerDVD or some other DVD software. (And I don't mean drag the VOB file to VLC) Can you copy the VIDEO_TS folder back to your hard drive? (Not much of a test, since Windows will fail on one error and you can frequently play the DVD flawlessly even with some errors)

There is a program by lite-on that will check the DVD for soft errors.

The other possibilities are that you need new media or a new burner. A new burner is less than $40 from newegg.com.

Feel free to email me if you have more information.

You could need a new DVD burner, i've gone through 3 in the past 2 years. Or you could have a bad batch of DVD R's. I've already bought a 50pk. and every disc was bad. I really don't think your prolem is with Nero. And just recently I had 2 movies Red Dust & Mrs. Harris that burnt with no prolem but the movie wouldn't play in my DVD players. So I reburnt them using CloneDVD and just burnt the movie no menu, no extras played perfectly. I've used all brands of media from the cheapest to the best. Almost always quanteed a coaster every now & then.
