Funny you should ask that, did it today myself , friend of nine who i pass frequently while driving has only ever once waved when passing, i always take the mick cos shes always concentrating so hard on the road , so today i was tooling along when i spot her car from a distance and think i will get her attention today by driving toward her a bit and stick my arm out the window and wave frantically at her, the reg was so similar , and the look on the blokes face was picture, you have to laugh, don't you!

Not really, I will wave to anyone out of friendliness. But if I make the mistake - I act if the above was the case

Yes and it used to embarrass me. Now I don't care and sometimes the person just waves back. Or I tell them I thought they were someone else.

I do it all the time, so I have got used to it.
Got a bit embarrassed on a train once, when I went to sleep and woke up to find I had flung my arms around a complete stranger. Stammered the classic:"Sorry, I thought you were someone else." Which he thought was hilarious. I didn't like to move away, so had to spend the rest of the journey sitting in uncomfortable silence next to the guy. Never has a train journey seemed so long.

All the time, accidentily.
They usually wave back but have a puzzled look on their face thinking "who the hell is that?"

Quite a few times. Best policy is to continue waving, smile and nod, and leave them to worry about their failing memory!

Sure, lots of times. They usually wave back. Kind of like smiling - most ppl see a smile and they return it. It's great, I like doing it! Have fun!
