If you don't look at all the walkoffs, Hafner's all around game is better, higher on base percentage, higher slugging percentage, 6 grand slams, and 11 for 18 with the bases loaded, I would say that's pretty clutch too.

travis hafner, how come everybody likes ortiz so much? his batting average is very average (.286), and although his OBP is pretty high(.401), its still lower than hafner's and thome's. travis hafner beats ortiz in AVG (.302), OBP (.427), and SLG (.632). ortiz beats hafner in HRs (42), and RBI (113). to get an idea of how good both are, hafner's AVG, OBP, and SLG lead not just ortiz but all DHs; and david's HRs and RBI lead all DHs (as well as the rest of the league). ortiz is very clutch, but hafner is too with that amazing 11/18 stat when the bases are loaded and better overall stats with runners are on, in scoring position and in scoring position with 2 outs. another stat, the majority of ortiz's HRs come with no one on, the majority of hafners homers have come with runners on. finally, one thing you have to credit david ortiz with, is his team has a better record, travis hafner doesnt have the greatest chance at the MVP award because his team has struggled, although this is mostly due to the red sox having better players than the indians. overall travis hafner is a better DH than ortiz who is slightly overrated.

I think that Travis Hafner would be better than David Ortiz at every position EXCEPT DH. The job of the DH is just to hit the ball hard. I know for a fact that David Ortiz is much better than Hafner in this respect. Everytime I see Ortiz, I'm thinkin' homerun. When I look at Hafner, I think, basehit. Basically, Ortiz is better because of the homeruns. But, you're right in the fact that if Ortiz didn't hit all those walk-offs, Hafner would be the better player.

Hafner is steady but if the game is on the line, I want Ortiz.

Hafner has better numbers:

.302 / .427 / .632 vs. .286 / .401 / .624

Since clutch hitting really doesn't exist, Hafner is the better player.

I'll take Hafner. His trainer wasn't caught bringing steroids across the border for Juan Gonzales.

Papi has more HRs, but that's not the reason why I say Papi -- he's been doing it a few more years longer. Haffner could surpas Papi in the next year or two, but right now it's Ortiz.

I will take Big Papi and won't even have to think it over.

I'm a White Sox fan and I fear Papi a heck of a lot more than the Yankee's hitters.
