The US Constitution is written in English.
The Declaration of Independence is written in English.
All this country's leaders, diplomats, presidents, etc conduct official business in English. The US military communicates in English.

As long as all the US road signs, laws, maps, banks and currency all conduct themselves in English, we should adopt English as our official language. By the way, you can't get a high school diploma in most of the US unless you pass state required English tests.

How sad it is that spineless lawmakers in this country don't have the guts to make English as the official language a law.
Has anyone in the USA noticed what language their paycheck is written?

English is or should be our official language. If its the ONLY language we should know then we're being kinda selfish as a lot of European countries know 2 to 3 languages.

Yes. This nation was founded by English speaking people. Most other nations in the world have official languages. Why not ours?

For all you ignorant people, English is not the "official language". It is used most places and most often than any other language in the U.S. and YES, it should be the official language of America.

Yes, why not? It is the main language we were founded on, and pretty much every other country has a native language. I do think Americans should be more open to learning a second (or more) language though. So many people in other countries can speak 2 or more languages. But...English should be our primary.

You mean on a federal level? What does it matter? States declare it as an official language already. It is quite pointless because some states have more diverse populations and such restrictions would just make things harder. Waiste of resouces and time.

Yes, unequivocally, unabashedly, without question.

The one and only language it must be and - it is English - for this GREAT nation. I love my country. Other languages can co-exist (with my permission), but English is the one and only language. Follow our rules or you can go where you like. You can't have the cake and eat it too.

Those who think otherwise, about my country, my ways and my language can leave it or love it if you want all the finer things that my country has to offer.

You are my guest, you are welcome to my things provided you follow my rules.

Learn my language and learn it properly if you want any dealings with me and my fellow Americans.

Yes, but we should be required to learn at least two other languages in our education system since the US is a melting pot.
