Absolutely not. I'm proud to be an American even when traveling overseas. I don't flaunt it but I behave in a respectful way so when I'm in a foreign country they see that Americans are descent people.

When I hear people like Toby Keith talking about being proud to be an American... YES! I hate it that people might think that he is an example of what a "real American" is. To me, a real American is someone who accepts people's differences and encourages people to better themselves. Our current climate here in the US doesn't seem to care about the citizens that are suffering. I'm embarrassed that we flaunt our wealth and embrace so many things that in the grand scheme of things hold no importance. Does it really matter what kind of car you drive or how expensive your house is?

Not in the least! There may be a lot of problems with the government and all, but it's still a free country last time I checked. There are not the kinds of freedom we have in America in other countries. We as Americans get away with a lot of things that they will shoot you for in other countries. You see it on TV all the time.
In China for instance, try protesting the government and see what happens!

Russian countries, try it there too!

The island of Haiti, try it there, they will kill you on the spot! I have been there and was detained with other Americans. Thank God I had my passport and other papers in order along with identification.

Do some research before you ask this kind of question the next time!

No way!!!!!!!!! I LOVE living in America.........I love having the ability to speak my mind and pursue my own interests........Just because I am american doesn't mean that I believe in all the idiots in my government, but that's why we have elections and don't end up with the same ruler for 50 years........Take care, dear..........

I am extremely luck to be here...

I am however embarrassed by our present self-serving, hypocritical administration.

Don't ever be ashamed of what you are or where you're from. If you feel this country needs some work, then work to improve it. If you're not willing to make it better, then there are plenty of other countries you might be happier in.
