put a shortcut on the desktop and then just drag it onto the taskbar

Depends on what operating system you use. Since not specified and would take too long to tell you how to do it to all 4 popular ones, go to the start menu, click on the help or search tag, and put in add icon and go through the steps.

ok nicely I rather have tried each and everything. My laptop won't enable me do a device fix to do away with the icon. i'm getting to the show screen the place the calender is and that i can not click something and the only date interior the examine factor container is immediately. What could I try now?

simply drag the icon into the taskbar.

I assume you mean the quicklaunch toolbar, to get a program to be on the actual taskbar you just have to open it. But for the quicklaunch you just drag/drop.
