They are equiped with remote kill switches. An official is able to kill the engine should the driver or truck have a malfunction. The switch kills the ignition, not the fuel and is controled by a person not a tether on the wrist.

An offical carries a remote control "kill" switch. If he sees the driver of the truck having problems such as losing control and might end up in the stands, he pushes the button which shuts off the engine. They can also reset the switch so he can start again. In case of a rollover, there is an emergency switch located on the rear of the truck where an official can push it. That's why the truck shuts down sometimes when they do wheelies.

I don't believe Monster Trucks are legally allowed to drive on any national / state / local road in the country - so if they passed out while driving (which I hope they avoid) - it would be during a rally with Monster Trucks, or at a private facility, and not where regular people are driving.

Like all racing vehicles, they have a kill switch that is cabled to the drivers wrist. If his hand falls off the wheel, the power is cut to the motor.
