Herbalists recommend feverfew. Calcium-magnesium-zinc pills taken 3 times daily with meals may help. MonaVie juice has given good relief to some headache sufferers. Essential Fatty Acids, B-50 vitamin complex and 5-hydroxytryptophan have been tried. Food sensitivities or allergies should be ruled out. See references below for good discussion.

Tincture of Lobelia and tincture of rosemary has done the trick for all of my migraine clients. At the onset of a migraine, take 1/2 teaspoon of each in some water. It takes about 5 to 10 minutes to work.

I never managed to figure out if there was anything I could eat/drink to get rid of one. I used to just lie down in a quiet, dark room and when I woke up it would usually be gone.

One thing that can trigger intense headaches is caffeine withdrawal.
Some migraine pain drugs (both prescription and over the counter) have caffeine in their product. It is a built in way to get repeated use of the product.

Half a lemon in a glass of water (120ML/8oz) in the morning...
Some Yoga helps.
For pain in general, put your fingers together and press HARD and move them. So the hands are mirroring each other, you know? Do it at least 100 times, it worked for me. Concentrate really hard, too.
I'd research some Yoga postures though.

I usually lay down in a dark room with very soft classical music and a cool damp wash cloth over my forehead or back of my neck and go to sleep

keep a diary of when you get them... may be related to your period, weather or food you eat.
then you may be able to control them.
to get rid of them, try chiropractic.
also try coke classic (diet doesnt work) and asprin or excedrin.
