Well, there were a few different people behind the mask. David Joyner and Carey Stinson both played Barney. The voices were done by Bob West and Dean Wendt for a while.

Have we all gotten so immature that we can't even accept educational children's shows? I think the vast majority of us in the younger generation watched barney as kids and there's nothing wrong with some of us. There's nothing wrong with barney either. If someone wants to dress up as a large purple spotted t-rex and sing happy little songs to happy little children, more power to him. Seriously.

There were many people who played barney, someone played him in the suit, and someone different did the voice it was most recently Maurice Scott I think.

His name is David Joyner. He's from dallas, he used to work at the Dallas Young actors studio and he was actually one of my acting coaches. He moved to los angeles though and I havent seen him in a loooong time. Ricky, one of the first kids on Barney went to college with me as well.
