congressional elections? Do you think that Republicans will lose their majority in the House and Senate? Do you think that, if they become a majority, Democrats will begin impeachment proceedings against President Bush for violating the Constitution and the FISA laws? If this happens, do you think that the remaining Republicans will turn against Karl Rove for his losing strategy?

Yes, the Republicans have lost a lot of swagger over the past couple years/months. I think they will lose the majority in either the House or the Senate, perhaps both. People have lost confidence in Republicans because of how Iraq is being handled, the revolving door of Staffers to this Administration, and the never-ending line of Republicans indicted for this crime or that.

Unfortunately, the Dems seem unable to capitalize on this weakness, as they still don't have a clear-cut agenda. Their main point is "Hey, at least we're not Republicans". Sure, that is a good start, but many Dems don't seem like they have a strong agenda- they make good critical points about the current Administrations, but fail to offer feasible reparations. I would like to think that some strong Dems will come into power, and lead us out of the lose-lose situation that is Iraq, and focus on perhaps actually finding Bin Laden and combatting actual terrorism, instead of fighting for oil, which, by the way, has only *increased* the prices since we've invaded.

Enough ranting, but I pretty much agree with you.

Why do you think the 'secret operatives' behind the Bush administration planned and executed a potential terrorist attack involving planes enroute to the U.S.A. from Heathrow Airport?
Staging that incident accomplished a number of objectives:
1. It 'proved' that George Bush was right: we must remain ever-vigilant and afraid of terrorists;
2. It took Americans' minds off the high price of gasoline for a day or two;
3. It cemented the relationship between England and the U.S., which was beginning to show signs of weakening;
4. It added fresh fodder to the Republican propaganda machine on Fox News and on the Rush Limbaugh "show", which was starting to get stagnant and stale;
5. It boosted George Bush's approval ratings just before the mid-term elections (but not close enough to the elections to make it look all that 'suspicious').

The sad thing is that even if the Democrats take control of the House and/or the Senate, nothing will change. We'll still have to tolerate corrupt, incompetent, arrogant 'leadership' that will do nothing for the American people, but do everything for the damn politicians' wealthy elitist friends, powerful lobbyists, influential special interest groups and the corporate welfare programs for big business. -RKO-

Interesting point, but if they even come close to this the Neo-Cons will speed up the next attack and it will really whip the whole world into line.

First came "Flight 93"

Then came "The World Trade Center"

Then came the "London Attempt"

The last step (after the entire world is warmed up) IS another Huge attack. Most likely at the most Profitable political time. So if the Democrats that aren't secretly tied with the "REAL" Government try to make ANY waves they will push the hand of these evil people.

You know, I was certain GW was gonna lose last election b/c of the war. Now, I can't gage the US public at all.

I think we have to get out of Iraq so they can have their civil war, but I also feel like Colin Powell said: You break it, You own it.

It will be interesting. I think it'll be a big toss up depending on the states. I don't see a major landslide for either party.

I am quite confident the Republicans will maintain control of Congress. I say that as a Democrat. They own the media, they slant all the news in favor of Republicans, and all the districts have been drawn to favor incumbents, meaning they concentrate Republican voters and disperse Democratic voters. Just add a little terrorism, real or imagined, and voila--the cattle are panicked and stampeded again into voting away their future. I would love to be wrong, but I don't think I am.

Maybe both parties will dry up and blow away like the dog crap that they are....then our government could get back to being a democracy again, instead of the corrupted mess that it is.
It doesn't matter what party they are from people!! They are all a bunch of crooks who don't give two $hits about anyone or anything but their own pocketbooks.

I doubt it. There is still a Republican majority with the people in this country. President Bush hasn't violated the Constitution.

This question is wishful liberal thinking.

The only thing I pray for is a shift in the balance of power in the US before we go any further down this terrible road of pre-emptive wars and conflict for the sake of funding the US military-industrial complex. I just hope the democrats can pull it off and that it's not too late to save us all!!!
