i would say to definetly have something for the baby to sleep in (crib, cradle, bassinet), a infant carseat/punkin seat, bottles, clothing, diapers, wipes, Diaper Rash ointment, baby wash/lotion,formula (unless you breastfeed)...etc..you can check out lists online for what you need. You don't HAVE to have a swing or bouncy chair, or anything like that, but they are definetly nice to have!

It is good to have all the major items, crib, car seat, swing, bottles, blankets, things like that. As far as clothing for the baby, it would be nice to have everything you need before your little bundle of joy gets here but maybe you should just get a few of the essentials, pj's, onesies, things that the baby will wear alot of.
I was one of those mommy to be's that had to have everything done before the baby came. I was told I was having a little girl so if it was pink I bought it. To my surprise my little girl was a little boy. I didn't have a stitch a clothing that even looked remotely like a boys outfit, my mom and husband had to go buy clothes while we were still in the hospital. If you are absolutely sure of what you are having go for it, get it all done, you may not feel like it once he/she has arrived but if there is any doubt just get the absolute necessities.
Congratulations and good luck.

Make sure you have a lot of burp cloths. I found stacks of them at garage sales and thrift stores, washed them up. If baby is going to sleep in a bassinet or cradle, you can put off buying crib bedding, or a crib also, for about three months.
Have lot of blankets and stock up on formula if you are not nursing. Have lots of pacifiers, tons of diapers and wipes, and the little things you need like nose aspirator and thermometer. You need lots of baby shirts, onesies, and socks. It's a warm time of year but getting cool at night.
Get infant tylenol, mylecon for gas.
Good luck

You'll definitely need, at the very minimum, a car seat, some onesies and some diapers and wipes.

But it's good to have as much as you can done before the baby comes because afterward it'll be hard to play catch-up.

Clean house before you go to hospital, buy carseat (can't leave hospital without one) pack yourself a bag. Go babyzone.com. It helped me out alot. It will tell you everything you need to pack. Keep that bag in your car or in the closet by the front or back door whichever you use. Do as much as you can now because after your not going to have time to do too much but sleep, feed, and change your baby. If Dad is involved try to get him to help clean house, do laundry. Always welcome yourself and your new baby to a clean house. It always feels better. Good Luck.

Not to sound like a smart a$$ but go ahead and get what you need now............. You are going to be soooooo tired when you get home that you will not want to do anything for a while plus it is best if you and the baby just stay home for a couple of weeks. Diapers, wipes, onesies, baby shampoo/soap and washclothes, blankets, ect..........

You can put off holding the baby and carrying for the baby after he/she comes. Other than that, you need to get it done before he/she is born.

The necessities are pretty slim. You need somewhere for your infant to sleep, diapers, wipes, bath wash, a few bottles if you are not breastfeeding, a few onies, outfits, and PJ's.

The other things such a swing, bouncer, and many other things are more to make it easier but not things you HAVE to have.

Congratz to you and Wish ya the best of luck!!
