His young labmate gave birth to a healthy baby. Is it safe for me to be in such environment? By the way I am 30. I'm not directly exposed or handling lab equipment. I am just sitting outside mainly to visit and eat dinner.

If you can avoid it, do so. You can visit your (friend? partner? brother?) at other times or places. Why take the risk?

If your asking this question then you really are concerned about the exposure so why are you continuing to go near the place.

I would avoid it at all costs.

However ask your doctor about the prolonged exposure and find out if the door separating the lab from the lobby(don't know what else to call it) is made of lead. If it is then your ok.

I wouldn't even risk going near it while pregnant. My cousin's mom worked in nuclear medicine while she was pregnant with her making the baby exposed to alot of radiation. My cousin ended up with congenital defects and severe urological problems. Its not worth it.

i suggest you stay away from any radiation. when i was pregant with my second baby, my son had to get xrays done on his head and chest and he was hystericle. i was not allowed in the room with him and two doctors had to hold him down. he was 18 months at the time(now he's going to be three) but just to be on the safe side. i wouldn't go near it for awhile.

I really think you shouldn't risk it but you should probably ask your doctor. My sister was pregnant and was getting all kinds of ex-rays for dental work and her baby is fine she's 18 and has a healthy baby but I still think you shouldn't risk the health of your baby. Good Luck and CONGRATULATIONS !!!!!!!!
