No, it's not needed, nor is it desirable. Sex is an illegal basis of discrimination, so it is unwise to provide prospective employers with info on the basis of which they could discriminate against you while claiming you were unsuitable for the position on some other basis.

Using the term CV makes me think that you're a Brit. If so, I can't help. In the U.S., though, that information absolutely should not be included.

It is not necessary to state your sex, it is almost as antiquated as including a photo. You can volunteer it somewhere deep in the content maybe, but it is discouraged.
