As far as the memory goes, if you do it yourself make sure you know what type of memory to get - SIMM, DIMM, DDR, etc. If you don't know what I'm talking about it may be best to bring it into a computer shop and have them upgrade your memory for you.
As far as more space, this can be a simple to fairly moderate process. If you have a USB or Firewire port, get a USB/Firewire Hard Drive. That is the simple solution. The fairly moderate solution is adding another hard drive to your system, which would entail you opening up your computer and installing it. Not a difficult thing to do, but it can be daunting for those who have never done it before. If you don't have enough room in your computer for another hard drive, then that is a problem. The only option then is to get a USB/Firewire hard drive or buy another hard drive to be installed into your computer knowing that you will have to do a complete reload of your operating system onto the new hard drive. Again, if you are not comfortable with this, bring it into a computer shop.

maptob wise, is very difficult, You need to get a better Hard Drive. This is a metal box, with special disk thingy inside, that stores ALL of the information on your comouter. Laptops are often made with a non-removable hard drive so i recommend buying another one. For your desktop (computer), you can simply purchase a larger hard drive (like 120 gigabyte {gb}) , remove the older harddrive, and then put in the new one. Of course, this is more difficult than it seems. So i again suggest that you purchase a new computer.
I also highly recommend beginner level computer users to purchase through dell. The phone service is very friendly. They'll ask you questions about what you'll be doing with your computer, and put in whatever you may need. The conversation needn't be very techincal. Just ask for lots of hard drive space, not memory, which is entirely different in computers.

to get more memory, you have to purchase it. if you feel comfortable doing this, open the underside of your computer where the memory is located (on dells, it's usually a little "door" marked with the letter "M" on the underside of the computer) and see what your current memory modules are: there may be one or two there. if there is only one and space for another, then any that you purchase will increase your memory. if both spots are already filled, then you will have to be sure that any memory you purchase is larger than one of the existing modules.
and easiest way to get more hard drive or storage space on a laptop is to buy an external hard drive and transfer non-essential files to the external drive. you can replace your internal drive, but that is often expensive.

Yeah, Pricewatch is better suited for first time buyers.
You should first check out the spec on your current PC or laptop memory. For example DDR2 memory won't work with computers supporting DDR memory. Also there is compatibility factor as well. For example same speed memory might not work if your computer does not support CL3

what do you refer to?
If you want to have more RAM or more Hard Disk, it's easy, buy another one...
If you want to have more free RAM you may unload some programs which are working like daemons, you may see all the processes that are working on your computer, by pressing the keys Ctrl+Alt+Del at the same time, if you want to unload an application definitely from memory you must use the msconfig utility, which is in: Start>Execute --> and write msconfig, go to Start and you may choose what to execute and what not... If you don't know what you may disable, look for it in Google...
Hope it helps...

its called RAM most places that sell it will install it for extra
when you buy it 256MB is recommended for XP computers, but I would go for 512MB
Also of note there are 2 types of memory
SO DIMM for laptops and DIMM for desktops, also memory comes in several speeds i.e. 4200 so check your manual or computer manufacturer about which speed you need or ask at circuitcity bestbuy etc
Harddrives are like the garage of your computer wher it stores information and once again same applies as with memory about where to buy and install also they have different sizes and capacities laptop HD is 3.5" desktop is 5.5"
hope this helps

Buy and install youself or take to a repair shop and have them do it for you... if you have a laptop, I'd recommend a repair shop because some are VERY hard to take apart and you can do expensive damage to them if you are not familar with them
