Prescott has had it politically: The only reason he is still in office is that if there were an election for the Deputy Leader Blair's own position would become unsustainable. Incidentally, why on earth don't Labour MPs and members force an election for the Deputy Leadership ? So Prescott has nothing to gain in terms of personal popularity by calling Bush "crap".
It is possible the Blair Government thought that if Prescott called Bush "crap" it would restore their postion just a little bit with their own supporters whilst not compromising a minister who actually has any dealings with the Americans. But I doubt Prescott's words were anything so sophisticated.
Off the record politcians use far too much bad language. This includes ones who specifically profess a moral and/or religious position. Businesspeople these days would not dream of speaking the way politicians (and their advisers) do. It does politicians no good but brings their profession into yet more direpute.
If Bush is wrong we should say why within democratic processes, so far as we are able. It does not do any good simply to call any politican "crap" and it simply demeans those who use the word.

The fact that all he could manage to say is that Bush is Crap, shgow's how uneducted he is.
For once, it would be refreshing for those on the left side of things to actually try to articulate why they don't like Bush. Real reasons, not,"He's a Chimp". or,"He's Crap."
Persoanlly, I like the guy, I voted for him twice. I wouldn't vote for him again, only because he's not much of a real Republican. Spends money like a drunken sailor and panders to much to special interests and the politically correct yahoo's.

You are looking at two individuals that both suffer badly from being unpopular. Both have made a spectacle of themselves in the public forum and both are regarded as Ideologues..

no he will never be popular - how can he gain popularity when he physically abused a man in the street? Aren't politicians supposed to be above all that?
