I have one. I have 3 kids, 3 long haired dogs, and a long haired cat. It is the best vacuum I have ever owned, hands down. It picks up everything, and gets every speck of dust. It is not true that all other 12 amp vacs are just as good - I have owned MANY vacuums. Dyson is well worth the price.

First, i do not own a Dyson, but i do know some info on it. GQ endorces this vacums becuse they are expensive and look cool, but they also work great and have little maintinance (perfict for GQ's audiance.) The reson they are special is becuse there is no filter bag. The system spins the air and dust and trash that is picked up from your floor. That spining motion utilizes centrifical force pushing the dust praticals to the outer walls of the vacume and the air goes out the back.
For the reviews i have read the origional is great but the ball thing is wierd and faulty. my advise is to go try it out.

It's Dyson and they are no better than others. If a vacuum has 12 amps it's just like all the others with 12 amps. The only way you will find one that is better is by paying 2000 dollars for one and they aren't that great either. My daughter sells rainbows vacs and while they are better than the ones you get at the store, they aren't worth 2 grand.

No bags. The vacuum is therefore more airtight and the suction stronger. And its easier to clean.
Also you don't need to buy other things (bags) after you have bought the Dyson (main reason the product was edged out for all those years - threat to the consumables market).

The suction is awesome. It picks up so much more and the hose strectchs so much farther then a traditional vaccuum. It doesn't have any belts to replace or that will break and its so easy to empty and clean. My wife loves it. Well worth the money

Have one and it is good not as powerful as I thought but
it does not make any dust at all and the bagless deal is good a
little hard to open at time..we have the Animal version

doesn't involve disposing of filters. great suction as well.
