like panhandlers or the crazy lady that came up to me at the gas station the other day? I gave her 3 dollars, which was all I had on me at the time.

Sometimes I do. It depends on the circumstance and how broke I am at that particular time.

The problem with this is that you have to be clear about where you draw the line. Either you help everybody who asks for money, regardless as to whether you think they're going to use the money to buy booze or food. (Remember, some people actually panhandle for a "living!") Or you decide that you will politely refuse, because after all there are many, many organizations--both public and private--devoted to helping indigent people.

We did last night. A man in a parking lot said he forgot his wallet and cell phone and he couldn't reach his wife. He ran out of gas and was carrying a gas can around with him. My husband gave him $3. Later, he was still in the parking lot asking for a ride to the gas station. We passed on that.

Vary rarely will I give money to people on the street .
I much prefer to give what I can to Charity I E Cancer Charity's
as I have had two types of Cancer myself .
Luckily I have recovered from both so obviously I Consider this the way to donate any spare cash that I can afford .

sometimes if the person really needs it... i dont like young beggars because i feel they should work n earn monay instead of begging... even if they r not getting any gd job i feel they can stil do a small job to earn a living... may be plant fruits or vegetables n sell those... it's better to work n earn than to beg

No not the ppl on the train b/c they are cons and i see them oneday on the train then i see them the next day hoping in to a car. so no money from me

I will go out of my way to go to a fast food place and buy them a meal rather then just give them cash.
