The current stadium will be turned into little league fields, along with a public park, hotel, resort, and parking area. The fields that the Yankees are taking down to build the new one, will be rebuilt brand new where the existing stadium currently is...they will also be putting in at least one hotel/resort/convention type center.

There is no truth to the name change...in fact, most of the old stadium will be put up in the new stadium (monument park, the facade around the top, etc...) They are also bringing back some things from before Yankee Stadium was redone in the 70's.

It is sad day in New York to lose one of the two last original ballparks in the majors. I just hope the city officials won't let it rot like they did to my beloved Tiger Stadium. So all the Yankee fans cherished Evey game at Yankee Stadium, because the new park won't be nothing like it.
